ANALYSIS: The Angels' rotation has been decimated by injuries this year, which has necessitated them transitioning Felix Pena to a starting role after he spent the last two seasons in the bullpen. That, along with the lack of a reliable third pitch, will keep Pena from being a reliable source of wins or likely anything better than a deep/AL-only asset. Still, there are some things to like in the profile. The 28-year-old makes good and frequent use of his outstanding slider, which has helped him strike out over a batter per inning. Meanwhile, a newly developed sinker has led to a ground ball rate in the vicinity of 50%.
Pena may be a risky play against the Mariners on Sunday, but he's worth keeping an eye on as a streamer down the stretch.
