In the stock market-like world of fantasy football, every week is another opportunity for owners to attempt to cash in the golden ticket of a player they've either had stashed on their fantasy bench or have been keeping an eye on the waiver for. This week, there were a trio of running backs whose fantasy stock rose quite significantly as a result of their performances.
New Orleans Saints running back Tim Hightower, who has been out of the league since tearing his ACL as a member of the Arizona Cardinals in 2011, carried the ball a career-high 28 times on Sunday, gaining 85 yards and tallying a touchdown in the team's 24-17 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Hightower got his shot after an injury to Khiry Robinson last month, and season ending rotator cuff injury to Mark Ingram last week. Hightower looks to be the main man in the Saints backfield, so if you are in dire need of a running back, be sure to snatch him up on the waiver wire.
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Denard Robinson rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries in Jacksonville's blowout victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Robinson took on the bulk of Jacksonville's carries after rookie running back T.J. Yeldon left the game with a sprained knee. The severity of Yeldon's injury is not yet clear, but if he misses any time, Robinson is a must add in fantasy.
New York Jets running back Chris Ivory rushed the ball 22 times for 101 yards in New York's 30-8 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. Sunday marked the first time since Week 5 that Ivory has eclipsed the 100-yard mark. Ivory has had a mixed bag of performances recently, after starting the season on a hot streak. Sunday's performance may be a sign that Ivory has turned the corner. He is an RB2 in all formats.
