Darren Waller Injury Update
Las Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller (hamstring) figures to be a game-time decision for Sunday's game against the Saints. The good news is, Waller is getting on the practice field, which means he might actually be able to play for the first time since Week 5.
This won't be a great matchup for Waller against a New Orleans Saints defense that defends well against the tight end. He should be considered a low-end TE1, assuming he's able to play. Fantasy managers should stay up to date all the way to game time.
Dalton Schultz Injury Update
Dallas Cowboys tight end Dalton Schultz (knee) is expected to play against the Chicago Bears in Week 8. Schultz hasn't provided much fantasy production thanks to his battle with injuries, but he looked solid in the win over the Detroit Lions, and his upside is high now that Dak Prescott is back.
He has caught 14 passes for 129 yards over five games in 2022. Schultz will operate as the Cowboys starting tight and is a borderline fantasy starter against the Bears in Week 8 if he's active.
Juwan Johnson Injury Update
New Orleans Saints tight end Juwan Johnson (hamstring) has been listed as questionable after he was limited during Thursday and Friday's practice due to a hamstring injury. The 26-year-old was not on the injury report Wednesday, indicating that he suffered the hamstring injury during Thursday's session.
Johnson and Adam Trautman (ankle) are questionable, but Johnson has the fantasy upside if he's good to go.
Pat Freiermuth Injury Update
Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth (ankle) practiced in full on Thursday and Friday after he was limited on Wednesday. Freiermuth missed Week 6 due to a concussion but returned in last week's loss to the Miami Dolphins with eight catches for a team-high 75 yards. Now, he's off the injury report and is expected to play in Week 8.
In a game in which the Steelers will probably be throwing a lot, Freiermuth is a solid TE1 choice for fantasy managers. In his six games so far in 2022, Freiermuth has 28 catches on 41 targets for 310 yards and one touchdown for the Steelers.
David Njoku Injury Update
Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku (ankle) was not spotted at practice Friday, and his availability for Monday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals is very much in doubt. Since Njoku was seen wearing a walking boot after the loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 7, there have been conflicting reports of how long he could be out.
His range is somewhere between 2-5 weeks, so it'll be a surprise if he plays Monday. Harrison Bryant can be used as a decent tight-end streaming play in his absence.
Logan Thomas Injury Update
Washington Commanders tight end Logan Thomas (calf) is questionable for the team's Week 8 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts. Thomas has missed the past three games, so his return could mean a boost for Taylor Heinicke and the Washington offense.
Although Thomas isn't a great option at tight end, he's on the fantasy radar with notable tight ends Travis Kelce and Gerald Everett on a bye. There are also several key tight ends banged up, so some fantasy managers might be forced to start him if he's active.
