Week 12 Half-PPR Rankings Analysis
A new feature has been added to our weekly fantasy football rankings article. Below, you will find our fantasy football outlooks for key options in Week 12, which gives readers a matchup preview of that player and advice on whether you should start or avoid for the upcoming week. We provide outlooks for all 32 NFL teams, which can be found on our player profile pages and our fantasy football news desk.
Brian Robinson Jr., RB, Washington Commanders
Week 12 Overall Half-PPR Rankings: 45
Week 12 Running Back Half-PPR Rankings: 25
Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. could be in for another solid performance in Week 12. On Thanksgiving, the Commanders will take on the Dallas Cowboys. While the Cowboys are a challenging opponent, the second-year back might have another elite workload waiting for him.
Fellow running back Antonio Gibson (toe) has been limited throughout the week and is considered a game-time decision. Without Gibson in the lineup, Robinson has been taking over the passing down role while holding onto his usual majority share of the rushing workload. With the possibility for more heavy volume, Robinson should be in starting consideration as a mid-level RB2 with upside in Week 12.
David Montgomery, RB, Detroit Lions
Week 12 Overall Half-PPR Rankings: 16
Week 12 Running Back Half-PPR Rankings: 10
Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery has rushed 24 times for 192 yards and two touchdowns since his Week 10 return from a rib injury. Even with rookie Jahmyr Gibbs flashing, the former Chicago Bear has remained a stud fantasy running back. That said, he should continue to be trusted against the Green Bay Packers, who have surrendered the 11th-most fantasy points per game to running backs.
Although Montgomery's workload seems to have taken a hit, he still earns goal-line carries in one of the best offenses in the NFL and has been an efficient runner. Start him to begin the week on Thanksgiving.
Brandon Aiyuk, WR, San Francisco 49ers
Week 12 Overall Half-PPR Rankings: 26
Week 12 Wide Receiver Half-PPR Rankings: 9
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk will go to Seattle for a Week 12 Thanksgiving night matchup with the Seahawks. Last week versus Tampa Bay, the 25-year-old exploded for 156 yards, catching five of six targets, including a 76-yard touchdown. It was his second consecutive game with a TD. Aiyuk doesn't tend to get as many targets as other teams' top producers but has made up for it with 19.3 yards per reception, good for second in the NFL to Houston's Noah Brown, who only has 21 receptions on the year to Aiyuk's 43.
Seattle's pass defense has been precisely mediocre in 2023, ranking 16th in the league in standard points allowed to fantasy wide receivers. Aiyuk will look to stay on a roll as a back-end WR1 on Thanksgiving night.
Terry McLaurin, WR, Washington Commanders
Week 12 Overall Half-PPR Rankings: 60
Week 12 Wide Receiver Half-PPR Rankings: 28
While putting up disappointing numbers for the past two weeks, Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin has the tall task of taking on one of the best defenses in the NFL. In a Week 12 Thanksgiving matchup, the Commanders will face the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas is allowing the second-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers, making this a questionable matchup for McLaurin.
So, while the fifth-year receiver may be aiming to bounce back, this will be a tough game to do so. McLaurin is still a starting option, but just temper expectations. Consider him a low-end WR2 against Dallas.
George Kittle, TE, San Francisco 49ers
Week 12 Overall Half-PPR Rankings: 57
Week 12 Tight End Half PPR Rankings: 3
San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle will take on the Seattle Seahawks in a Thanksgiving night matchup in the Pacific Northwest. Kittle, 30, is no stranger to the Seahawks, as Thursday will be his 12th career matchup against the team. He's been hot versus Seattle, scoring four touchdowns in the past two regular-season games, although he only had two receptions in their playoff matchup last year. Kittle has also been on fire recently, posting fantasy half-PPR totals of 19.4, 19.1, and 18.9 in the past three games.
His streakiness shouldn't be forgotten, though, as he had fewer than five half-PPR points in four of the first six games of 2023, and Seattle has allowed the 11th-fewest fantasy points to tight ends. Fantasy managers should start Kittle as a boom/bust TE1 this week.
