Ryan Tannehill Injury Update
Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill (ankle) returned to practice today. Head coach Mike Vrabel said the veteran quarterback would practice on Wednesday. He added, "they'll continue to work through things and see how it goes." The former Texas A&M quarterback missed last week's 17-10 win over the Houston Texans because of the ankle injury and an illness.
Tannehill's return to practice is an encouraging sight for Titan fans and fantasy players. Last week the rookie Malik Willis started for the veteran. However, the third-round pick had only 10 pass attempts and 55 passing yards in the game. Assuming he is ready to play this week, Tannehill is an interesting streaming option against the Kansas City Chiefs because the passing volume might have to tick up to keep Tennessee in the game.
Matt Ryan Injury Update
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan (shoulder) won't practice again this week due to his right shoulder injury. Injury issues aside, the Colts said last week that they have benched Ryan for the rest of the year in favor of Sam Ehlinger. It's highly likely that Ryan will be inactive for the Week 9 contest against the New England Patriots, and he's not expected to start again in 2022 unless something happens to Ehlinger.
If Ryan is inactive again this weekend, veteran Nick Foles would again serve as Ehlinger's backup. The 37-year-old Ryan had nine touchdowns and a league-high nine interceptions in seven games played before being benched in what has become a mess of a Colts offense. Indy also fired offensive coordinator Marcus Brady this week.
