C.J. Stroud Injury Update
Houston Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud (concussion) did not take part in practice with the rest of the team on Wednesday. Stroud is in the league's concussion protocol following his head injury in the Week 14 blowout loss to the New York Jets and is in danger of missing the first game of his NFL career this weekend against the Tennessee Titans. It would be a terrible blow to fantasy managers who made the playoffs in their league if they are without the 22-year-old this weekend, but you should already be preparing for that possibility.
Davis Mills, who started 28 games for the Texans the previous two seasons, would make his first start of the year on Sunday against Tennessee if Stroud is unable to gain clearance to play. Mills went just 1-for-5 for four yards on eight offensive snaps in relief of Stroud last Sunday.
Trevor Lawrence Injury Update
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence (ankle) was a full participant in practice on Wednesday, according to head coach Doug Pederson. The former No. 1 overall pick suffered a high-ankle sprain in the team's Week 13 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, but Lawrence was able to suit up in Week 14 against the Cleveland Browns.
He had plenty of highs and lows in that contest, completing 28 of his 50 passing attempts for 257 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions. In Week 15, he draws a fierce matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, who have allowed the second-fewest fantasy points per game to signal-callers in 2023.
Aaron Rodgers Injury Update
New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) was not seen on the practice field on Wednesday and has now missed three of the last seven practices as he continues his rehab program from a torn Achilles he suffered in the season opener. Rodgers will most likely return to a limited practice participant on either Thursday or Friday, but he's not going to play in Week 15 against the Miami Dolphins and is still considered a long shot to return for the Jets this year despite the incredible progress he's made to this point.
Head coach Robert Saleh has been non-committal on whether Rodgers will be back in 2023. Rodgers has even admitted himself he won't consider it unless the Jets are in contention for a playoff spot, which they currently aren't.
Will Levis Injury Update
Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis (ankle) was limited at practice on Wednesday. He's dealing with an ankle injury, although time will tell if it will keep him off the field for Sunday's matchup with the Houston Texans.
The 24-year-old is coming off a monster performance, throwing for 327 yards, one touchdown, and one interception off 22-for-38 passing in Monday's narrow win over Miami. Unfortunately for fantasy managers, Levis hasn't been consistently productive since taking over, making him hard to trust in any format.
Derek Carr Injury Update
New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr (ribs, shoulder), who has been beat up with injuries as much as any player in the league this year, is not listed on the initial Week 15 injury report on Wednesday after practicing in full. The 32-year-old is as tough as they come, somehow not missing a game all year despite two concussions and ribs and shoulder injuries. Carr admitted earlier this week that he's played through several rib fractures in 2023.
Despite all the health concerns this season, Carr has five 300-yard games, although he has only 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions to show for it in 13 games played. In a strong matchup in Week 15 against the New York Giants, Carr will remain an uninspiring low-end QB2 for fantasy managers with his supporting cast pretty banged up.
Kyler Murray Injury Update
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray (thumb) practiced fully on Wednesday ahead of his team's Week 15 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. Murray's thumb issue is a new one, although it is a positive sign that it did not prevent him from taking part in practice on Wednesday. That being said, his status will be worth monitoring throughout the remainder of the week as the Cardinals gear up to face the 49ers.
Rookie signal-caller Clayton Tune is the team's backup and would presumably get the start if Murray can't play, although that doesn't seem to be a concern at this point in the week.
Zach Wilson Injury Update
New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson (knee) is on the Week 15 injury report but was a full participant in practice on Wednesday. Wilson is dealing with a minor knee ailment that isn't expected to keep him from starting in Week 15 against the Miami Dolphins. The 24-year-old excelled and had by far his best game of the season in last Sunday's blowout win over the Houston Texans when he went 27-for-36 for 301 yards and two touchdowns in his return to the starting role following a two-game benching.
Wilson isn't all of a sudden on the QB1 radar after that performance, but he could be in a position to keep the positive momentum going this weekend against a Dolphins defense that is pretty beat up right now. The Jets could also have to take to the air often to keep up with Miami's explosive offense.
