Kyler Murray Injury Update
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray (knee) tore his left ACL in the Monday night loss to the New England Patriots, an MRI exam confirmed on Tuesday. Murray will now miss the final four games of the 2022 season and won't be ready for the start of next year. The 25-year-old's knee gave out while scrambling on just the third play of the game, and he was carted off while in tears.
Murray finishes his fourth year in the desert with 2,368 yards, 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions on 390 pass attempts while also carrying the ball 67 times for 418 yards and three more scores. He can officially be dropped in single-season fantasy leagues. Veteran backup Colt McCoy will take over as the starter the rest of the way and will be a low-end QB2 option in superflex leagues.
Lamar Jackson Injury Update
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (knee) was not present for the portion of practice open to the media on Tuesday, which would mark his fourth straight missed practice. Jackson is dealing with a sprained knee and missed the Week 14 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He'll need to get back on the field at some point this week to have a shot at suiting up for fantasy managers in the first week of the playoffs in a Week 15 matchup against the Cleveland Browns on Saturday. And with Tyler Huntley suffering a concussion on Sunday, it's possible that rookie Anthony Brown makes his first career start this weekend against Cleveland, which would be a big downgrade for all of the Ravens' offensive skill players.
Tyler Huntley Injury Update
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley (concussion) was participating in the portion of practice open to the media on Tuesday. It's a great sign for Huntley, who left the Week 14 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers with a concussion and didn't return.
With Lamar Jackson (knee) also out, the Ravens were forced to turn to rookie third-stringer Anthony Brown. Jackson and Huntley are both up in the air for Week 15 against the Cleveland Browns on Saturday, but we'll have a better idea of the situation under center after a few more practice days this week. If neither Jackson nor Huntley can play this weekend, Brown will be in line for his first career NFL start. Brown went just 3-for-5 for 16 yards. Expect Baltimore to lean even more heavily on their ground game if Brown makes the start.
Russell Wilson Injury Update
Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson (head) is officially in the concussion protocol on Monday, and the Broncos will follow all of the league's protocols, according to head coach Nathaniel Hackett. "His safety is by far the No. 1 most important thing," Hackett said. Wilson was injured late in the Week 14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and was replaced by backup Brett Rypien.
Before he left, the 34-year-old he had one of his best games of an extremely disappointing season, going 23-for-36 for 247 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. He also had four carries for a season-high 57 yards. With Denver eliminated from playoff contention, it makes no sense to rush Wilson back. Don't expect to have him in two-QB leagues in Week 15. If he can't clear the protocols, Rypien would make the start and be a low-end QB2 option against the Arizona Cardinals.
Brock Purdy Injury Update
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (oblique/rib) was injured late in their victory over the Buccaneers on Sunday. The 22-year-old is questionable to play on Thursday against Seattle. However, we might not know his status until closer to kickoff, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan, whose comments on Tuesday read, "we don't have much time, but we're not going to try to figure that out today or tomorrow."
The backup to Purdy is Josh Johnson, who would take over as the starter, which might negatively impact the offense. Fantasy managers relying on Purdy will need to monitor news reports over the next 24 hours to get more clarity.
Mike White Injury Update
New York Jets quarterback Mike White (rib) was forced to leave the game twice in the Week 14 loss to the Buffalo Bills due to a pair of rough hits. He went to the hospital after the game for precautionary exams but was cleared to fly home with the team. White said he feels good, and while head coach Robert Saleh is "hopeful" White can play in Week 15 against the Detroit Lions, the 27-year-old signal-caller said he feels like he's "ready to roll."
In his third start of 2022, White went 27-for-44 for 268 yards without a touchdown or interception on Sunday. If White is able to play, he'll have some decent upside as a QB2 against the Lions defense this weekend. If he cannot play, it remains to be seen if the Jets will turn back to second-year QB Zach Wilson after promoting him to the backup spot.
Kenny Pickett Injury Update
Pittsburgh Steelers rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett (head) entered the league's concussion protocol in Week 14 in the loss to the Baltimore Ravens and didn't return to the contest. "After the first series, he was evaluated and cleared," head coach Mike Tomlin said. Tomlin also said that Pickett was continually evaluated afterward, and after the next series it was determined that he could not continue. The NFL isn't taking any chances with head injuries this year, so it's not a surprise that Pickett didn't return.
The 24-year-old will have to pass through the protocol this week in order to play against the Carolina Panthers in Week 15. If he isn't cleared, Mitch Trubisky will make the start on Sunday. In his first action since Week 6, Trubisky went 22-for-30 for 276 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions in relief of Pickett.
