Geno Smith Injury Update
The Seattle Seahawks listed quarterback Geno Smith (elbow) as questionable to play on Thursday night against the San Francisco 49ers, but NFL Network's Mike Garafolo writes that all indications have been that Smith is tracking to play on Thanksgiving. Smith injured his throwing elbow in the Week 11 loss to the Los Angeles Rams and had to leave the game, but he returned late in the fourth quarter and also led the team on a game-winning drive.
The 33-year-old veteran probably isn't going to be 100 percent on Thanksgiving, but he should be active. Smith gets a matchup against one of the best defenses in the NFL and will be without starting running back Kenneth Walker III (oblique). Fade Smith as a QB streamer in Week 12.
Aaron Rodgers Injury Update
New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) is hoping he can return to the practice field in two weeks, which is only three months removed from surgery on his left Achilles. His unofficial target for a return to game action is the team's Dec. 24 game against the Washington Commanders. Rodgers has maintained throughout his recovery from a torn Achilles that his comeback is contingent upon the Jets being in playoff contention.
But at 4-6 and on a three-game losing streak, those prospects don't look too good. The future Hall of Famer is 10 weeks removed from surgery and said he's jogging on an Alter G treadmill. Rodgers still needs to build strength in his heel and calf, which is prone to fatigue. He's made amazing progress, but it still feels like a long shot that we'll see Rodgers playing by the end of this season. (ESPN)
Bryce Young Injury Update
Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young (thigh) got in a full practice on Wednesday. Young has been dealing with a thigh issue but it hasn't limited his practice status so far this week. There is a very good chance that he is playing hurt, as is everyone else in the NFL at this point in the season.
The rookie signal-caller has thrown for just 1683 yards (62.1% completion rate) to go along with nine touchdowns and eight interceptions in nine games this year. Young is not worth starting in fantasy in Week 12, even if he's facing a porous Titans defense.
Will Levis Injury Update
Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Will Levis (ankle, foot) was listed as a full participant in the team's first practice of the week on Wednesday. Levis reportedly didn't take part in the team's unofficial walkthrough practice on Tuesday. He's now listed with an ankle injury as well as a foot ailment, but obviously the injuries aren't serious enough to potentially keep him from starting under center for the Titans in Week 12 against the Carolina Panthers.
Levis has looked better than Ryan Tannehill this year, but the 24-year-old rookie signal-caller also has only two garbage-time touchdown passes and two interceptions the last three games after tossing four TDs in his NFL debut in Week 8. At first look, the last-place Carolina Panthers figure to give Levis a good shot at a bounce-back game in Week 12, but their defense has actually been pretty stingy against opposing QBs this year in fantasy points allowed.
Derek Carr Injury Update
New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr (concussion) went through a full practice on Wednesday, according to head coach Dennis Allen, and the next step of the concussion protocol is to be cleared by doctors. Carr suffered another right-shoulder injury in the Week 10 game against the Minnesota Vikings and also suffered a concussion on the same play, but he was quickly cleared of his shoulder injury and had the benefit of last week's bye to heal up.
The fact that he's already practicing in full this early in the week means he'll most likely gain clearance to play this Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. The 32-year-old signal-caller has been a low-end QB2 in fantasy all year in his first season in New Orleans, and there's no reason why that will change if he plays in Week 12.
Daniel Jones Injury Update
New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones (knee) had successful surgery on Wednesday to fix a torn ACL in his right knee and is now facing eight to 10 months of recovery. The surgery was performed by team physician Dr. Scott Rodeo in New York. Jones' recovery timetable will take him right up to the start of training camp next summer. The 26-year-old's season didn't go as planned after signing a four-year, $160 million deal earlier in the year, and he's due another $35.5 million in guaranteed pay in 2024.
Jones had just two touchdowns and six interceptions in six games while being sacked 30 times, and he also missed some time with a neck injury. The G-Men will be hoping he can bounce back in 2024 after a career-best campaign in 2022, although he may never be more than a low-upside QB2 in fantasy. Rookie Tommy Devito will continue to lead the Giants offense moving forward. (ESPN.com)
