Joe Burrow Injury Update
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (calf) suffered a calf injury early in training camp and has been sidelined for a few weeks. However, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said on Monday that Burrow is looking healthy. "He looks great," Taylor said. "Physically walking around, he looks as good as he's ever looked."
That's great news for the Bengals and fantasy managers, as it looks more and more likely that he'll be available to play in the Week 1 season-opener against the Cleveland Browns. Like last season, Burrow will carry a QB1 outlook into every matchup in 2023. A top-three fantasy finish is well within his range of outcomes.
Brock Purdy Injury Update
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (elbow) drew the preseason start and moved the ball effectively in the opening drive of the 49ers 21-20 win against the Denver Broncos on Saturday night. He completed four out of five passes for 65 yards in the brief appearance. The drive fizzled out and ended in a field goal, but fantasy managers will be happy to see Purdy pick up where he left off in 2022 when he won the starting job and led San Francisco to the NFC Championship game.
He left that game with an elbow injury that required offseason surgery, so it was good to see Purdy fully healthy and sharp. As successful as he was last year, Purdy is not likely to put up startable fantasy numbers. He's better left as a bench stash except in two-quarterback leagues.
Will Levis Injury Update
Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Will Levis (lower-body) suffered a lower-body injury during joint practices with the Minnesota Vikings. Due to the injury, he did not play in the preseason contest against Minnesota. Malik Willis played the entire game in his absence.
However, Levis was back at practice on Wednesday and moving around, so it looks like he's OK. The 24-year-old out of Kentucky is competing with Willis to be Ryan Tannehill's primary backup. For now, Willis appears to be winning the competition. He remains a dynasty league stash, but he might not play at all in 2023.
