Tee Higgins Injury Update
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins (hamstring), who injured his hamstring during practice on Nov. 8 and has missed the last three games, has a chance to play in Week 13 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. It's been a frustrating year for Higgins, who wasn't able to work out a long-term extension with the team before the start of the regular season. He then cracked a rib in Week 4 and missed Week 5.
The 24-year-old had his first 100-yard game of the year in his last game in Week 9, and his return would be a big boost to an offense that will be without star quarterback Joe Burrow (wrist) for the rest of the year. However, Higgins' fantasy stock will also be down the rest of the way now that he'll be working with Jake Browning under center when he's back on the field.
Higgins could be questionable for next Monday night's game against the Jags, which would make him even more risky for fantasy purposes. (Cincinnati.com)
Kenneth Walker Injury Update
The Seattle Seahawks listed running back Kenneth Walker III (oblique) as a non-participant at Monday's practice. Walker suffered a strained oblique in the Week 11 loss to the Los Angeles Rams and was subsequently held out on a short week for the Thanksgiving night game against the San Francisco 49ers.
The Seahawks are hopeful that Walker will be able to return in Week 13 against the Dallas Cowboys this Thursday, but he's probably going to need to return to practice on Tuesday or Wednesday to have a realistic shot at playing. Rookie Zach Charbonnet was the team's clear lead back last week against San Fran with Walker sidelined and would be in line for another big workload in Week 13 against Dallas if Walker misses his second straight game.
De'Von Achane Injury Update
Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane (knee) missed the Week 12 game against the New York Jets. The speedy rookie missed four games on Injured Reserve due to a knee injury and returned in Week 11 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
However, he reaggravated the banged-up knee after just one carry in that contest. Head coach Mike McDaniel said Achane was held out of Week 12 due to wanting full confidence in his health and because of a short week. The Texas A&M product could play in Week 13 against the Washington Commanders, but we likely won't have clarity on his status until later in the week.
Amari Cooper Injury Update
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper (rib) was ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's meeting with the Denver Broncos after taking a hard hit in the second half. Fortunately, X-rays were negative, so the wideout appears to have avoided a severe rib injury.
However, the team will likely play it safe with Cooper, meaning he could miss practice during the week. For now, fantasy managers should consider him questionable for Week 13 against the Los Angeles Chargers. But if Cooper isn't active, David Njoku, Cedric Tillman, and Elijah Moore could see more targets.
Dallas Goedert Injury Update
Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert (forearm) is pushing to play Sunday when the Eagles host the San Francisco 49ers. The tight end has missed two games with a fractured forearm, but a bye week mixed in has given him extra time to recover. If he's not able to make it back against San Francisco, a return for the Week 14 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys seems fairly certain.
In his place, the Eagles have been starting Jack Stoll, who hasn't done anything of relevance for fantasy football. Wide receiver DeVonta Smith has been the biggest beneficiary, averaging over 100 yards per game in Goedert's absence. Keep an eye on injury updates throughout the week for Goedert.
Rashid Shaheed Injury Update
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed (quadriceps) is unlikely to play in Week 13 against the Detroit Lions after getting hurt early in the Week 12 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. The 25-year-old caught two passes for nine yards before exiting and never returning. Top wideout Chris Olave also suffered a head injury and never returned, so the Saints could be extremely short-handed at the position come this Sunday.
Michael Thomas (hamstring) is on Injured Reserve. Rookie A.T. Perry and Keith Kirkwoods are speculative pickups in deep fantasy leagues this week, while tight ends Taysom Hill and Juwan Johnson could see an uptick in targets in Week 13 against Detroit if both Shaheed and Olave are out.
Quentin Johnston Injury Update
Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley indicated that tests on rookie first-round wide receiver Quentin Johnston (ribs) showed nothing serious and that he should be able to practice this week. Johnston injured his ribs in the third quarter of Sunday night's Week 12 loss to the Baltimore Ravens and never returned despite being medically cleared on the sidelines.
The 22-year-old finished with just one catch on three targets for seven yards. Johnston has struggled with drops and has failed to live up to his draft pedigree through his first 11 NFL games, catching 21 of his 37 targets for 190 yards and one touchdowns. He hasn't capitalized on an expanded role with Joshua Palmer (knee) on Injured Reserve. Johnston is a hold in dynasty/keeper leagues, but he can't be trusted in starting lineups given his recent play and trouble with dropped passes.
Luke Musgrave Injury Update
Green Bay Packers head coach Matt La Fleur said he doesn't know if rookie tight end Luke Musgrave (kidney) will be able to play again this year, but he isn't ruling him out and credits Musgrave's toughness. The Packers placed Musgrave on Injured Reserve after he suffered a lacerated kidney in the Week 11 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. The earliest he can return will be Week 16, so fantasy managers in single-year formats can probably drop him if you haven't already.
Josiah Deguara (hip) didn't play in the Week 12 win over the Detroit Lions either, allowing rookie Tucker Kraft to play 96% of the offensive snaps on Thanksgiving. Kraft had two catches for 15 yards and a touchdown against Detroit and should have an expanded pass-catching role in Musgrave's absence the rest of the way.
Hendon Hooker Injury Update
Detroit Lions quarterback Hendon Hooker (knee) could begin practicing this week. Head coach Dan Campbell said the Lions could activate Hooker from the NFI (Non-football injury and non-football illness) list this week, meaning he'd be eligible to take the field. Hooker has been recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered in late November of the 2022 college football season.
The Tennessee product isn't likely to see playing time this year, but he could push veteran Teddy Bridgewater for the No. 2 quarterback job. This offseason, Campbell said Hooker is likely to have a "redshirt" year in 2023, so he will not be a factor in fantasy football unless Goff and Bridgewater get injured.
