Raheem Mostert Injury Update
Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert (ankle, knee) and safety Jevon Holland (knee) aren't going to need surgery in the offseason. For Mostert, he missed the team's final two regular season games before returning in Saturday night's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the wild-card round. In his return in the frigid conditions in KC, Mostert had only eight rushing attempts for 33 yards and caught one pass for a loss of three yards.
The 31-year-old had easily his best year in 2023 with Miami, picking up his first 1,000-yard rushing season while also scoring a league-high 21 touchdowns (18 rushing, three receiving). Mostert will be back with Miami in 2024, but he'll not only face regression in all categories, but he'll most likely also see fewer backfield touches with the emerging Achane earning a bigger role.
Noah Brown Injury Update
Houston Texans wide receiver Noah Brown (shoulder) is being placed on Injured Reserve ahead of the team's Divisional Round game against the Baltimore Ravens or Kansas City Chiefs. The 28-year-old was on the injury report often this season with knee and back injuries, and he suffered a shoulder injury in the Wild Card win over the Cleveland Browns. Although Brown often played second or third-fiddle to Nico Collins and Tank Dell (leg), he delivered two games of over 150 receiving yards in 2023.
Overall, Brown accumulated 33 receptions for 567 yards and two touchdowns in his first year as a Texan. He is a free agent this offseason. Moving forward, Collins, Robert Woods, John Metchie III, and Xavier Hutchinson will have to step up at wideout. Tight ends Dalton Schultz and Brevin Jordan will also be candidates to see more targets.
Julio Jones Injury Update
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Julio Jones (concussion) was diagnosed with a concussion following a hard hit in the second quarter of Monday night's wild-card playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was ruled out for the rest of the game. Before taking the hard shot that left him concussed, the 34-year-old veteran caught three passes for just 22 yards.
This could have been Jones' final game in the NFL, but we'll find out for sure in the offseason. If it was his last contest, he could be headed for the Pro Hall of Fame.
