It’s Week 8, nearly halfway through the 2024-25 campaign. It hasn’t been a memorable season for tight ends around the National Football League. Many in the position haven’t met expectations, while others have had issues just staying healthy enough to get on the field.
Being up-to-date on NFL injury news can give you an edge over your league mates in fantasy football. Now that the regular season has begun, fantasy managers should stay locked into the latest injury headlines.

Evan Engram Injury Update
Engram missed some time because of a hamstring injury. He finally returned to the lineup for the Week 6 London matchup with the Chicago Bears, finishing with a game-high 10 grabs for 102 yards.

While he wasn’t as productive in Week 7 against the Pats, what was more important was that he was out there for a second consecutive contest. Engram was limited in Wednesday’s practice.
However, that’s been the norm for the 30-year-old over the last few weeks, so fantasy managers will likely see him in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers, barring a setback. If Engram is available, keep him starting.
Dallas Goedert Injury Update
Goedert tweaked his hamstring in the Eagles' clash with the Cleveland Browns, opening the door for Grant Calcaterra to finish with 67 yards off four catches. Unfortunately, Goedert wasn’t active for the Week 7 win over the New York Giants, which could be the case for Sunday’s game versus the Cincinnati Bengals.
While Calcaterra had just one catch versus New York, Saquon Barkley stole the show, leaving little room for anyone else to get involved. Still, Calcaterra is a hit-or-miss fantasy option in Week 8, so managers should be cautious about putting him in any fantasy lineup.
T.J. Hockenson Injury Update
It's been eight weeks, and still no Hockenson, who is close to making his 2024-25 debut. Will he finally return for Thursday’s showdown with the Los Angeles Rams?
The Vikings are officially listing TE T.J. Hockenson as questionable for tomorrow's game against the Rams.

It’s difficult to say. While Hockenson could see limited snaps in his first game in nearly a year, he’s one of the best tight ends in the NFL, which automatically gives him credibility for fantasy lineups.
George Kittle Injury Update
Things are bad for the San Francisco offense. The team has already been without Christian McCaffrey. To make matters worse, Brandon Aiyuk was lost for the remainder of the year with a knee injury.
#49ers participation report:
DNP - DT Kevin Givens (groin), WR Jauan Jennings (hip), TE George Kittle (foot), K Jake Moody (ankle), S George Odum (knee), WR Deebo Samuel (illness, wrist), OT Trent Williams (vet day)
Limited - DE Nick Bosa (elbow), RB Jordan Mason (shoulder),…

Of course, the 49ers can’t afford any more injuries, so Kittle’s absence from practice on Wednesday isn’t ideal, especially before a Sunday night prime-time game versus the Dallas Cowboys.
Fortunately, there is still time for Kittle to get healthy and play. But if he’s inactive, Eric Saubert would presumably move to the top of the depth chart.
Dalton Kincaid Injury Update
Kincaid is on the injury report for Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks because of a collarbone injury. The same was true leading up to the Bills’ win over the Tennessee Titans.
However, he wasn't very productive, finishing the game by catching only three of his six targets for 52 yards. Assuming his condition hasn’t gone in the wrong direction, he should be cleared for Week 8.
Although Knox has a higher ceiling than most at the tight-end spot, fantasy managers could consider an alternative until he shows signs of life.
Dawson Knox Injury Update
Dalton Kincaid isn’t the only Bills tight end on the depth chart, as Knox didn’t practice on Wednesday. But no matter if the veteran is cleared to play against Seattle, he only has five catches during the 2024-25 campaign, so he’s no longer a viable fantasy tight end.
