Dak Prescott Injury Update
The Dallas Cowboys have been without Dak Prescott since Week 1, but he's set to make his return to the field in Week 7. The Pro Bowl signal-caller was able to practice in full on Friday and he was removed from the injury report, meaning that he'll be active.
Prescott was nearing a return in recent weeks with a fractured thumb, however, Dallas wanted to make sure he could through a full week of practice without any concerns before starting him again. The veteran quarterback made enough progress for him to announce that he's back himself, so Cooper Rush will go back to being the No. 2 on the depth chart.
With Prescott's return, the skill players on the Cowboys receive a massive boost and they'll be facing a weak Detroit Lions defense on Sunday.
Lamar Jackson Injury Update
Lamar Jackson popped up on the injury report for the Baltimore Ravens earlier this week with a hip ailment. Despite making an appearance on the injury report, the former NFL MVP has been removed from the injury report and will start on Sunday versus the Cleveland Browns.
The dual-threat quarterback has had quiet performances in recent weeks, but the Browns are without Denzel Ward and Jadaveon Clowney is questionable. At the same time, Rashod Bateman could be returning to the offense in Week 7, giving Jackson another weapon to target.
There isn't any concern with Jackson on Sunday as he's primed for a stellar outing against an AFC North foe.
Russell Wilson Injury Update
It has been a disastrous start for the Russell Wilson era for the Denver Broncos and the experienced quarterback is battling a hamstring injury. Even though the Pro Bowl quarterback wanted to find a way to suit up on Sunday, Wilson has been ruled out in Week 7 against the New York Jets.
With Wilson sidelined, Brett Rypien is set to be the starting quarterback for the Broncos. The ironic thing is that Rypien has one career start and it came in Week 4 of the 2020 season against the Jets, where he completed 19 of his 31 attempts for 242 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions.
The weapons on the Broncos likely won't see much of a difference in their production this week despite Wilson being inactive given how poorly the offense has performed to begin the season.
Tua Tagovailoa Injury Update
Tua Tagovailoa has been sidelined for the last two weeks with a head/neck injury, but he returned to practice a week ago. Following a week where he didn't have any limitations in practice, Tagovailoa is off of the injury report and he's slated to start on Sunday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
It was a scary injury for the lefty signal-caller as he took a hit in Week 4 versus the Cincinnati Bengals that forced him to seize up and be taken to a hospital. Tagovailoa suffered a head/neck injury in Week 3 against the Buffalo Bills, but he was allowed back in the game, so hopefully, the Dolphins are prioritizing his long-term health before throwing him back into the fray.
If Tagovailoa can return without any limitations, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle should both get boosts in their production.
Mac Jones Injury Update
Mac Jones sustained an ankle ailment back in Week 3 against the Ravens and the New England Patriots have gone 2-1 in his absence. When speaking to the media on Friday, Jones spoke as if he'll be ready to return to the field on Monday night versus the Chicago Bears.
It should be noted that Jones hasn't addressed the media since Week 3 versus the Ravens, so that could be an indication that he'll be active on Monday night. That being said, Bailey Zappe performed admirably well in his absence, though Bill Belichick will likely go with Jones due to the success he had last season and the draft stock they put into him.
Damien Harris and Jonnu Smith were full participants on Friday, so if the second-year quarterback does return on Monday, he'll have close to a fully healthy set of weapons to target against a mediocre defense of the Bears.
Carson Wentz Injury Update
Carson Wentz got off to a fast start to the season, but he's struggled in recent weeks and he'll miss some time for the Washington Commanders. The former first-round pick has a fractured finger and he's expected to miss at least a month of action and he could be placed on injured reserve soon.
Wentz suffered the fractured finger against the Bears in Week 6 after hitting his hand on a defender's helmet. The former first-round pick would proceed to play the rest of the game, though he clearly seemed limited in what he could do throwing the ball.
With Wentz sidelined for multiple weeks, Taylor Heinicke is expected to start on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. It's hard to trust all of the offensive weapoWashingtonibgton right now, and if Heinicke struggles, the Commanders could elect to go to rookie Sam Howell at quarterback sooner rather than later.
