Dak Prescott Injury Update
Dak Prescott suffered a thumb injury in Week 1 versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and he's been sidelined for the past two weeks after undergoing surgery. Even though Prescott is nearing a return to the field, the franchise quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys has been ruled out for the team's Week 4 contest against the Washington Commanders.
Mike McCarthy shared on Friday morning that Prescott is still dealing with swelling in his thumb and he doesn't know when he'll be able to throw a football. There's a chance we see the Pro Bowl quarterback return in Week 5 versus the Los Angeles Rams, but this week, Cooper Rush will draw another start at quarterback in hopes to extend the team's winning streak to three.
With Prescott nearing a return, the buy-low window for the offensive weapons on the Cowboys is about to close.
Tua Tagovailoa Injury Update
It was a scary moment on Thursday Night Football in Week 4 when Tua Tagovailoa took a big hit and he would need to be carried off the field on a stretcher. After exiting the game early and being rushed to the hospital, Tagovailoa was able to fly home with the team and is he is undergoing tests for head and neck injuries.
It's hard to comment on Tagovailoa's situation as we don't know all of the details yet. The third-year quarterback also suffered an injury in Week 3 that caused him to stumble on the field, leading the Dolphins to put him through the concussion protocol before clearing him to return in Week 3 and play in Week 4.
Given what we currently know, the Dolphins will likely want to prioritize Tagovailoa's long-term health and rest him until he's one-hundred percent. Until we get more information, fans should expect Teddy Bridgewater to be the starter for Miami in Week 5, which is a downgrade for the weapons on the Dolphins.
Jameis Winston Injury Update
Injuries have been a concern for Jameis Winston in recent seasons and the veteran signal-caller is trending toward being out in Week 4. As the New Orleans Saints prepare to face the Minnesota Vikings overseas on Sunday, Winston is considered doubtful to play with a back ailment.
The former first-round pick has been trying to play through multiple broken bones in his back by wearing extra padding under his shoulder pads, but the injury has certainly affected his performance on the field. Winston didn't log a single practice this week, so Andy Dalton is expected to be the starting quarterback for the Saints on Sunday.
Alvin Kamara and Chris Olave could be busy in Week 4 with Michael Thomas also ruled out and Jarvis Landry questionable, along with Dalton likely leaning on Kamara and Olave in his first start for the Saints.
Mac Jones Injury Update
The second-year quarterback for the New England Patriots sustained an ankle injury in Week 3 versus the Baltimore Ravens. Despite Mac Jones trying to force himself to play on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, the Patriots have ruled him out for this week.
The Alabama product was able to finish the game last week against the Ravens, however, he was noticeably in pain once the game concluded. Considering that the Patriots are hopeful that Jones is their franchise quarterback for the future, they aren't going to risk worsening his injury by starting him in Week 4.
Brian Hoyer will start for the Patriots this week, meaning that the skill players will likely take a hit in their value, though, Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson could see expanded workloads.
Zach Wilson Injury Update
Zach Wilson sustained a knee injury in the preseason for the New York Jets and the team placed him on injured reserve to begin the season, which meant he'd miss a minimum of four games. With Wilson making enough progress to fully participate in practice this week, the second-year quarterback has been removed from the injury report and he will make his season debut on Sunday.
The positive news for Wilson was that he didn't suffer any structural damage to ligaments in his knee, however, there's still concern with how he responds to being back in game action again. For those that have Wilson in fantasy football, you'll likely want to wait and see how he looks before inserting him into your lineups as he faces the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4.
The skill players on the Jets have been productive with Joe Flacco at quarterback, but it remains to be seen how they perform with Wilson manning the offense.
