Christian McCaffrey Injury Update
McCaffrey (ribs, oblique) was sidelined towards the end of the 49ers' loss to the Browns. As of now, his status for Week 7 remains up in the air. The good news is that the running back's injury isn't deemed serious and his availability will largely depend on his pain tolerance threshold. The bad news is that the Niners play on Monday night, so a questionable designation could leave fantasy managers in a difficult situation. Elijah Mitchell and Jordan Mason would handle more reps if McCaffrey can't suit up.
David Montgomery Injury Update
Montgomery (ribs) has been diagnosed with a cartilage issue following his early exit from Sunday's game against the Buccaneers and is expected to miss time. The 26-year-old has been one of the team's biggest overachievers this season, so his expected absence will sting. However, the good news is that Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) is trending in the right direction for Week 7 and would start if Montgomery is indeed ruled out.
Kyren Williams Injury Update
Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams (ankle) suffered an ankle sprain in the Week 6 win over the Arizona Cardinals. Initial reports indicated he could miss just one contest, but according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the second-year pro is now expected to miss multiple games. He should be back to action by Week 11 at the latest, but it's still a big blow for fantasy managers who scooped him off the waiver wire early in the season. Ronnie Rivers (knee) is also expected to miss multiple weeks. Royce Freeman, Darrell Henderson, and rookie Zach Evans are the active running backs on the Rams' roster. It's difficult to know which one will be worth targeting in fantasy football, but in deep leagues, they should all be on the fantasy radar.
Jahmyr Gibbs Injury Update
As mentioned, Gibbs (hamstring) is trending towards returning in Week 7 versus the Ravens. This comes at a perfect time for the Lions with Montgomery (ribs) sidelined. Fantasy managers should view Gibbs as a mid-range RB2 while staying cognizant of the fact that Craig Reynolds could handle some carries, too.
Jamaal Williams Injury Update
Williams (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice on Tuesday and seems to be trending in the right direction for Week 7. While a short week adds a wrinkle to the veteran's recovery, a full practice on Wednesday would all but confirm his availability for Thursday Night Football. Williams is currently on injured reserve and would need to be activated before kickoff in order to suit up.
Ronnie Rivers Injury Update
Rivers (knee) has been diagnosed with a Grade 3 PCL sprain. Such an injury will sideline him for at least four games, suggesting that he'll be placed on injured reserve later this week. With Williams (ankle) also sidelined, the Rams find themselves quite short-staffed at running back. Evans and Freeman should handle the bulk of snaps out of the backfield on Sunday versus Pittsburgh.
Damien Harris Injury Update
Harris (neck) suffered a scary upper-body injury on Sunday Night Football and was taken to the hospital via ambulance. Fortunately, he was discharged Monday and has since returned home where he is resting. The 26-year-old is in concussion protocol and has been diagnosed with a neck sprain, but the team reports that he is in good spirits. Latavius Murray will operate as the clear-cut No. 2 running back behind James Cook for the duration of Harris' recovery.
Chris Brooks Injury Update
Brooks (ankle) suffered an injury versus the Panthers on Sunday and will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis going forward, according to head coach Mike McDaniel. This update suggests that Brooks won't be available for Week 7, though we might not get confirmation on his status until Friday evening. Regardless of his availability, the Miami backfield will primarily feature Raheem Mostert on Sunday while Salvon Ahmed and Jeff Wilson Jr. (rib, finger) also work into the mix.
