Below you will find our fantasy football injuries roundup for running backs as of January 4th, coming out of the 17th week of NFL action.
There have been new developments surrounding the injury statuses of various NFL running backs, including Christian McCaffrey, Josh Jacobs, James Conner, and Elijah Mitchell. These are some key running back injuries that managers will want to check on throughout the days leading up to Week 18.
Before diving in, though, we would like to address the scary situation on Monday Night Football with Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin. During this unsettling time, RotoBaller continues to send our prayers to Hamlin, as well as his family, friends, and teammates. We also send our thoughts to Tee Higgins, who reportedly looked "visibly shaken" in the aftermath of his clean collision with Hamlin. In an effort to inform and comfort readers throughout this entire situation, we will provide updates regarding Hamlin's status through our news desk, but only when we have credible information to share and it is appropriate for us to do so.

Christian McCaffrey Injury Update
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told the media that McCaffrey (ankle) suffered a mild sprain and is considered day-to-day. With the playoffs looming, it's certainly possible that the team could hold McCaffrey out of action in order to keep him healthy. Fantasy managers should monitor his status throughout the 49ers' three practices this week.
Josh Jacobs Injury Update
The Raiders' estimated injury report on Tuesday listed Jacobs (hip, oblique) as limited. Las Vegas may be out of playoff contention, but they'll certainly deploy most of their starters as they try to play spoiler in this divisional clash with the Chiefs. Expect Jacobs to suit up on Saturday.
James Conner Injury Update
Conner (shin) is day-to-day. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury noted that the injury "was nothing major" and Conner's X-rays came back negative. It sounds like he's on track to play in Week 18, but fantasy managers should still monitor Arizona's upcoming injury reports.
Elijah Mitchell Injury Update
Mitchell (knee) is expected to "do some work this week," which means the team will trigger his 21-day practice window. It's unclear if Mitchell will be ready for Week 18, but he's definitely trending toward playing in the playoffs.
Marlon Mack Injury Update
Mack (hamstring) has been placed on injured reserve. This is merely a procedural roster move, and since Mack wasn't on the fantasy radar, backup Chase Edmonds isn't worth adding for the final week, either.
Travis Homer Injury Update
Homer (ankle) could return in Week 18, according to Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll. Kenneth Walker III and Rashaad Penny have been playing well, so there likely aren't going to be many touches available for Homer in his first week back. Avoid him in all leagues.
