Week 14 Fantasy Football FLEX Outlooks and Rankings Analysis
A new feature has been added to our weekly fantasy football rankings article. Below, you will find our fantasy football outlooks or injury news for key options in Week 14, which gives readers a matchup preview of that player and advice on whether to start or avoid for the upcoming week. We provide outlooks for all 32 NFL teams, which can be found on our player profile pages and our fantasy football news desk.
Ezekiel Elliott, RB, New England Patriots
Week 14 FLEX Half-PPR Rank: 65
New England Patriots running back Ezekiel Elliott will operate as the team's No. 1 running back on Thursday night versus the Pittsburgh Steelers after Rhamondre Stevenson (ankle) was ruled out. While JaMycal Hasty and Ty Montgomery may earn a few snaps, this backfield belongs to Elliott, and he could log around 20 touches, much like he did last week versus the Los Angeles Chargers.
As the Patriots' passing game continues to falter, expect them to go run-heavy against a Steelers team that is also struggling to find its identity on offense. Pittsburgh's defense is allowing 4.24 YPC to running backs this season, meaning Elliott could have a big game. He's also an appealing option in short-yardage passing situations and around the goal line. Fantasy managers should view him as a mid-to-low RB2 for the time being.
Jaylen Warren, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers
Week 14 FLEX Half-PPR Rank: 59
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren has cooled off significantly over the past two weeks after a dominant stretch from Weeks 9 through 11 and will be looking to bounce back against the New England Patriots on Thursday night. Although the Steelers are optimistic that Najee Harris (knee) will suit up, Warren could still be in line for an increased workload if Harris is at all limited.
New England has been stout against fantasy running backs recently, but Warren should be involved in the passing game and always offers a high ceiling with his explosiveness. He'll be a must-start option if Harris is surprisingly ruled out but can otherwise be considered a solid RB2 in this matchup.
Diontae Johnson, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers
Week 14 FLEX Half-PPR Rank: 63
Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson found the end zone for the second time this season in Week 13 and will be hoping for similar success against the New England Patriots on Thursday night. With Kenny Pickett (ankle) ruled out, Johnson will catch passes from Mitch Trubisky, who targeted the fifth-year wideout nearly 11 times per game in his four full starts last year.
Although Johnson could produce in PPR fantasy formats with volume alone, it should be noted that this contest between two of the least efficient offenses in the NFL has an incredibly low projected point total. Fantasy managers can roll with the 27-year-old as a WR3 or flex option.
Treylon Burks, WR, Tennessee Titans
Week 14 FLEX Half-PPR Rank: 163
Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel said he's hoping to see more from wide receiver Treylon Burks on Monday Night Football against the Miami Dolphins as the team ramps him up. Burks missed three games with a concussion before returning in the Week 13 overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts, where he played only nine offensive snaps and wasn't targeted at all.
The Titans will probably have to take to the air often against Miami in Week 14, but even with increased snaps, it doesn't mean that Burks will suddenly be in play as a flex option for fantasy managers in the deepest of leagues. The 23-year-old former first-rounder has been a bust so far in his NFL career, catching just one touchdown pass and missing 12 of a possible 29 games due to injuries.
Noah Brown, WR, Houston Texans
Week 14 FLEX Half-PPR Rank: 91
Houston Texans wide receiver Noah Brown (knee) is still managing a knee injury and was listed as a limited participant in Wednesday's practice session. Brown was forced to sit out in Weeks 11 and 12 because of his knee injury. He returned in last Sunday's Week 13 win over the Denver Broncos and played a season-high 81 percent of the offensive snaps, but he was targeted just twice and didn't catch either of them.
The good news is the 27-year-old hasn't had any setbacks with his knee and should be fine to play in Week 14 against the New York Jets, where he's expected to be the No. 2 receiver now that impressive rookie Tank Dell (leg) is out for the year. It's a tough matchup on the road against the Jets, but Brown's fantasy stock is on the rise. He had 13 catches (14 targets) for 325 yards and one score in Weeks 9 and 10.
