Week 12 Fantasy Football FLEX Outlooks and Rankings Analysis
A new feature has been added to our weekly fantasy football rankings article. Below, you will find our fantasy football outlooks for key options in Week 12, which gives readers a matchup preview of that player and advice on whether you should start or avoid for the upcoming week. We provide outlooks for all 32 NFL teams, which can be found on our player profile pages and our fantasy football news desk.
Zach Charbonnet, RB, Seattle Seahawks
Week 12 FLEX Half-PPR Rank: 39
Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet is set for the first start of his professional career in Thursday's game against the San Francisco 49ers. Regular starter Kenneth Walker III (oblique) suffered a non-contact injury during a rushing attempt against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 11 and carries a doubtful tag after not practicing this week.
Charbonnet took over that game and finished with 15 carries for 47 yards and six catches for another 22 yards through the air. The rookie won't have it easy in the late game on Thanksgiving, as the 49ers have one of the league's better run defenses. With DeeJay Dallas (shoulder) and Kenny McIntosh the only other backfield options for the Seahawks, Charbonnet should still see enough volume to be a low-end RB2.
AJ Dillon, RB, Green Bay Packers
Week 12 FLEX Half-PPR Rank: 59
Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon (groin), who is listed as questionable for the Thanksgiving game on Thursday against the Detroit Lions, is expected to play, according to sources. Dillon was able to practice on a limited basis this week, and he'll be Green Bay's primary RB against Detroit with Aaron Jones (knee) already ruled out with an MCL sprain and rookie Emanuel Wilson (shoulder) on Injured Reserve. Patrick Taylor and James Robinson, who were just signed this week, will back up Dillon on Thursday. The 25-year-old should get all the touches he can handle. Dillon hasn't been killing it in 2023 with a career-low 3.5 yards per carry, and just one rushing score, but the increased volume will at least make him worthy of a starting lineup spot as an RB3/flex in fantasy this week.
Jayden Reed, WR, Green Bay Packers
Week 12 FLEX Half-PPR Rank: 82
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed will go on the road to take on the Detroit Lions in Week 12 on Thanksgiving. The rookie was limited this week in practice with a chest injury but was left off the final injury report. Reed has been on a roll the past two weeks, tallying at least 80 yards and finding the end zone twice, once through the air and once on the ground.
The 23-year-old's versatility could be on display once again on Thursday, as Aaron Jones (knee) and Emanuel Wilson (shoulder) are both out for this contest, while starter AJ Dillon (groin) is listed as questionable. Easily the most explosive option on the Packers at the moment. Reed should continue to see heavy involvement in the offense and should be considered a solid flex option in Week 12.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba , WR, Seattle Seahawks
Week 12 FLEX Half-PPR Rank: 98
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba drew another six targets in the team's loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 11. The rookie has seen at least five targets in eight of the first ten games of his pro career. In Week 12, the Seahawks have a divisional game on Thanksgiving night against the San Francisco 49ers who lost starting safety Talanoa Hufanga (knee) to an ACL tear in Week 11.
The resulting shuffling of San Francisco's secondary will likely pit Smith-Njigba against defensive back Isaiah Oliver, who has struggled to cover the slot, giving up 256 yards and three touchdowns. Smith-Njigba's fellow receivers in Seattle, DK Metcalf (toe) and Tyler Lockett (hamstring), are both entering the Week 12 game with no injury designation, limiting the rookie's upside. Even with an encouraging coverage matchup, it is hard to project Smith-Njigba any higher than a WR4/5.
Quentin Johnston, WR, Los Angeles Chargers
Week 12 FLEX Half-PPR Rank: 121
Los Angeles Chargers rookie wide receiver Quentin Johnston will look to bounce back from a tough Week 11 performance in a Week 12 game against the Baltimore Ravens. Johnston caught just two passes in Week 11, dropping a perfect throw from quarterback Justin Herbert on what would have been an almost certain game-winning touchdown.
The rookie was wide open, and the ball hit him in the hands in stride, but somehow it ended up on the ground. Johnston was visibly upset and did not get another chance in that game. The rookie and the entire Chargers team will hope to watch him bounce back from his toughest moment as a pro so far, but that doesn't make him worth starting in any but the deepest fantasy leagues.
