Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Breakout CFB Performances From Week 6 (2023)

Mike Marteny takes a look at 2023 breakout collegiate stars that will be available in your fantasy football dynasty drafts within the next year or two. Who shined in Week 6 of the 2023 season?

We had another fun weekend of college football. We had some performances that you had to see to believe. I think at this point I can just put Brock Bowers under the tight end section of this article from now until the end of the season. He is integral to Georgia's continued success and he somehow seems to be better in every game.

We are going to help you get acclimated with these college players earlier than many of your fantasy football league mates. We here at RotoBaller are all about giving you an advantage.

I will highlight one quarterback, one running back, one wide receiver, and one tight end every week of the college season that put up some really big numbers. I'll let you know what it means for your dynasty leagues. Do these guys have NFL futures? You'll find out!

Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Quarterbacks

E.J. Warner, Temple (42-65, 472 yards, 5 TD) vs. UTSA

The son of NFL Hall-of-Famer Kurt Warner made this list a couple of times last season. As you can see, he's still spinning the ball well in Philly though the Owls have yet to beat an FBS team. Warner has cut down the interceptions in his sophomore season even though the accuracy is a little worse.

Warner is a little undersized for an NFL quarterback at an even six feet. He needs to add some more muscle to his 190-pound frame to consistently take hits from NFL linebackers. There is time for that though. Warner isn't even 20 years old yet.

Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Running Backs

Antario Brown, Northern Illinois (13 carries, 280 yards, 4 TD) at Akron

That's not a typo. Brown racked up 280 yards on just 13 carries! That tied the best rushing performance of the season (set last week by Re'Mahn Davis on double the carries), but Brown scored one more touchdown than Davis.

At 5' 10" and 219 pounds, Brown is stout enough to take hits from NFL linebackers. Brown projects as an early-down back since he isn't much of a receiver. His speed came into play against Akron, but he's not all that fast. There could be a home for Brown in the NFL since he is a tough runner who isn't afraid to get hit.

Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Wide Receivers

Malachi Corley, Western Kentucky (8 receptions, 207 yards, 3 TD) at Louisiana Tech

Corley is fortunate enough to have Austin Reed throwing to him. Reed entered the transfer portal after the 2022 season but elected to return to Corley and the Hilltoppers in the spring.

At 5' 11" and 210 pounds, Corley may not be your typical outside receiver. He may be asked to be a slot receiver. His 4.42 40-yard dash time suggests that he is fast enough to be used in a slot and has the size to be a bully to secondary corners in the NFL. Corley is a good combination of speed and hands that will translate well to the next level. Most teams will be happy to have Corley as a WR2.

Fantasy Football Dynasty Watch: Tight Ends

Brock Bowers, Georgia (7 receptions, 132 yards, TD) vs. Kentucky

Yes, it's Bowers again. This was his third straight 100-yard receiving game. The Bulldogs have even used Bowers out of the backfield at times. He is more Jeremy Shockey than Kyle Pitts, but there is nothing wrong with that. Bowers is big enough to bounce off linebackers and fast enough to get open from said linebackers. He is likely a first-round draft pick and the TE1 in dynasty drafts next year.
