The game plan of streaming quarterbacks from week-to-week can lead to great success with the correct research but it can also be the reason for fantasy heartbreak. It is one thing to lose knowing you had Tom Brady or Cam Newton at the quarterback position. Bad games happen. That’s the nature of sports. You can’t second guess or beat yourself up for starting your stud quarterback. That changes when you lose with a mediocre quarterback. There are always multiple streaming options and choosing the wrong one can haunt you for making the wrong decision. Two quarterbacks that are coming off big games last week may lead you to fantasy disaster in Week 13.
The Washington Redskins are surprisingly in first place of the NFC East in a tie with the New York Giants after their big win. Kirk Cousins has stepped up as a credible quarterback and has delivered fantasy success. Over the last four home games, Cousins is averaging 25.7 standard fantasy points per game. You should be able to trust him in a home game on Monday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys, right? Wrong. Cousins has been impressive for statistical purposes but he’s not good enough to be declared matchup proof against a very good Cowboys pass defense. Dallas puts pressure on the quarterback and Cousins does his damage when given time to throw. That luxury won’t exist on Monday and Cousins will be in for a long night. The flow of this game will likely feature more emphasis on the running.
Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor is another option that will likely turn into a bust. Taylor has been disappointing since returning from an injury over the past month until last week. Against the Kansas City Chiefs, Taylor dominated for twenty-five standard fantasy points. That won’t continue in Week 13 as Taylor faces a very difficult Houston Texans defense. Over the last four games, the Texans have given up one total passing touchdown. They have also given up the least amount of passing yards in that time span. Houston has emerged as one of the top defenses in the entire league and Taylor isn’t good enough to overcome the matchup. There are various options to stream at quarterback much better than the two quarterbacks listed here. Matt Hasselbeck in a good matchup and Ryan Fitzpatrick with his magical beard are both cheap and better alternatives this week. Stay far away from starting Kirk Cousins or Tyrod Taylor at quarterback in Week 13.
