Fantasy College Football CFB Rankings: NCAA Top 10 (11/20/17)

Cupcakes and cream puffs.

No, we're not planning our dessert for Thanksgiving Day, we're calling into question the rules--or lack thereof--that allow top teams in the FBS to schedule FCS teams, and other softies, toward the end of the season. Sure, by doing so, these big teams don't hurt their postseason prospects any, but they don't help pundits, such as ourselves, learn anything new about them either.

With that in mind, here's our Top 10 as of November 20, 2017 (with won-loss records in parentheses).

NCAA College Football (CFB) Rankings

1. Alabama, (11-0)

Mercer? Mercer. The Tide improved to 11 wins, with Auburn up next, and Calvin Ridley (103 receiving yards) padded his stats. Next!

2. Wisconsin, (11-0)

Okay, to be fair, the Badgers played Michigan--after getting the cupcakes out of the way in September. Yeah, they're still undefeated, but we're about the only believers out there. Wide receiver A.J. Taylor had 3 catches for 79 yards and a score against the Wolverines.

3. Oklahoma, (10-1)

The Sooners had to play Kansas at some point, but the matchup against the Jayhawks only made us pine for the Border War (the KU-Mizzou version). Because, at least toward the end, it meant an easy victory for our Tigers. We'd shake QB Baker Mayfield's (257 passing yards,  TDs) hand, but we know where they've been. Next!

4. Clemson, (10-1)

Dabo Swinney's Tigers have won 10 games again... by beating The Citadel. Puh-lease. Freshman Tee Higgins had 6 catches for 178 yards and 2 TDs against... The Citadel. Sigh. Next!

5. Miami, (10-0)

Okay, we could have done the brave thing here and rewarded the Hurricanes for beating a touch ACC rival (UVA), but the win was at the Orange B... We mean, whatever they call that place. However, we're still not sold on the "swagger." Sue us.

6. Auburn, (9-2)

Wait, are we rewarding the Tigers for beating Louisiana-Monroe? Nope. Just punishing some other programs. We don't see Auburn as a factor in the BCS mess. Period. Well, unless they beat Alabama, and then Georgia (again) in the SEC Championship Game). Then we still don't see them as a factor, but the selection committee likely will. Ah well... Alabama awaits. Next!

7. Georgia, (10-1)

The Bulldogs bounced back from their disappointing loss to Auburn... sort of. Frankly, they struggled a bit against UK, only adding window dressing at the end, thanks to RB Nick Chubb (15 carries, 151 yards, 2 TDs). They'll face a hungry in-state rival Georgia Tech next week. Upset alert.

8. TCU, (9-2)

Another dud for Oklahoma State at home (was elimination from the Big 12 Championship Game on their minds?), means TCU is back in, on a technicality. No Kenny Hill Jr.? No problem. QB Shawn Robinson had 84 rushing yards on 12 carries, and did enough to get the W at Texas Tech.

9. USC, (10-2)

UCLA's Josh Rosen (32-52, 421 yards, 3 TDs) won the "Battle of the QBs" but USC came out on top in the "Battle of LA." Barely. As with Auburn, we have to acknowledge that the Trojans have a slim shot at the BCS play-off, just because they play in a Power 5 conference. But we're not happy about it.

10. Penn State, (9-2)

Notre Dame had a tough time with Navy, but the Nittany Lions made it look easy against a woebegone Nebraska team. Yep, we just used woebegone... RB Saquon Barkley (17 carries, 158 yards, 3 TDs and 6 catches for 66 yards) likely played his last game in Happy Valley. The NFL awaits. Next!
