Fantasy College Football CFB Rankings: NCAA Top 10 (10/8/18)

Brian Dunleavy's top 10 NCAA college football (CFB) rankings, from a fantasy football perspective, as of 10/8/18. His fantasy CFB rankings are updated weekly.

Older readers will remember the Sports Illustrated "cover jinx."

A player or team featured on the magazine's cover one week would suffer some form of bad fortune the next.

We doubt there is a RotoBaller Top 10 jinx, but we did feature Oklahoma's Kyler Murray last week and... he had nearly 400 total yards in a loss to rival Texas. So maybe we didn't put the hoodoo on him, but his team?

Here are our top teams after Week Six of the season (with won-loss records in parentheses), as of October 8, 2018:

NCAA College Football (CFB) Rankings

1. Alabama, (6-0)

We could write about QB Tua Tagovailoa (10/13, 334 yards 4 TDs vs. Arkansas) every week, but that would get boring. It's worth noting though that we haven't jinxed him. When you have weapons like receiver Jerry Jeudy (4 catches, 135 yards, 2 TDs against the Razorbacks) it's like having a lucky rabbit's foot.

2. Georgia, (6-0)

Last week, we questioned whether QB Jake Fromm (17/23, 278 yards, 2 TDs vs. Vandy) could put up big numbers in the SEC. Maybe he took that as a challenge, though we doubt he reads our rankings. Former Penn State receiver Terry Godwin (2 catches, 95 yards, 1 TD against the Commodores) has next-level skill.

3. Ohio State, (6-0)

Buckeyes' QB Dwayne Haskins (33/44, 455 yards, 6 TDs vs. Indiana) keeps putting up video-game numbers, and receiver Parris Campbell (9 catches, 142 yards, 2 TDs against the Hoosiers) has been a primary beneficiary.

4. Clemson, (6-0)

QB Trevor Lawrence was able to play against Wake Forest--after suffering a concussion last week--and unfortunately for the Demon Deacons so was RB Travis Etienne (10 carries, 167 yards, 3 TDs). Imagine if Dabo Swinney didn't like to rotate backs?

5. Notre Dame, (6-0)

We haven't been big believers in the Fighting Irish, but we're starting to see the light. Virginia Tech isn't exactly Alabama (just ask Old Dominion) but winning in Blacksburg, at night, still is no easy task. RB Dexter Williams (17 carries, 178 yards, 3 TDs against the Hokies) made it look simple, though.

6. West Virginia, (5-0)

We know... The Mountaineers only beat Kansas. At home, no less. But they won and Will Grier (28/41, 332 yards, 4 TDs against the Jayhawks) was his usual outstanding self. RB Leddie Brown (11 carries, 107 yards 1 TD on Saturday) also had a breakout day.

7. Washington, (5-1)

The Huskies struggled--again--at UCLA, but held on to win. We have them ranked higher than most polls, and we're starting to wonder why. And we're sure you are, too. QB Jake Browning threw for 265 yards, and showed his moxie in running for 49 more. But we'd pay more than a lucky penny for the thoughts of NFL scouts on the signal caller.

8. Oklahoma, (5-1)

Dropping the Sooners five spots for losing a rivalry game against a consensus Top 25 team (Texas) seems a bit harsh, but the Sooners sleepwalked through much of this one before making it a game in the second half. And, as noted, QB Kyler Murray still had 396 total yards. Unreal.

9. LSU, (5-1)

Boy, we were all in on the "Bengal Tigers" before we heard a Cajun trash-talking about them the day before their game at Florida. Karma, and all that. No shame in losing at Gainesville, though, and RB Nick Brossette (15 carries, 95 yards, 2 TDs) had a nice game.

10. UCF, (5-0)

We had our eyes on Auburn, Kentucky and Stanford, but... Keep your eyes on QB McKenzie Milton (18/34, 278 yards, 2 TDs against SMU).
