It's almost tournament time.
In our final rankings of the regular season, you won't see much change from last week. But change surely will come. That's our only prediction.
Here are our CBB rankings for the week of March 6th (won-loss records in parentheses).
NCAA College Basketball (CBB) Rankings
1. Kansas, (28-3)
The Jayhawks are our No. 1 team headed into the Big Dance. Sound familiar? Don't let us down--again--Bill Self.
2. UCLA, (28-3)
The No. 2 team in the country--according to us--is the No. 3 team in the Pac-12 standings. Only in college basketball. Bryce Alford (16.5 PPG) overtook T.J. Leaf as the Bruins' leading scorer this week, which speaks more to Leaf's hitting the wall than Alford's sterling play.
3. Villanova, (28-3)
Speaking of deja vu, the Wildcats are about where we had them at this time last year. An omen? Can Josh Hart (18.7 PPG, 6.5 RPG) carry them to another national championship?
4. Gonzaga, (30-1)
Assuming the 'Zags get through the WCC, they'll get a well-earned No. 1 seed in the Dance. A path to the Final Four? We'll see...
5. Oregon, (27-4)
Rabbit season... Duck season... Rabbit season... Duck season... The early-season struggles of Dillon Brooks (16.0 PPG) meant that the Ducks got out of the gates a bit slowly in 2016-17, but they have turned hot at just the right time. We think March will be Duck Season.
6. Arizona, (27-4)
We flipped a coin and Arizona lost. Really, the Wildcats and Ducks are 5A and 5B. Neither will be an easy out.
7. Kentucky, (26-5)
Calipari's Wildcats have won eight in a row. The Lions (oops, wrong cats) of Lexington have the best athletes. But can freshmen lead them to the Final Four?
8. SMU (27-4)
We have no reason to think that the Mustangs will make a deep run this year, but we've added Shake Milton (13.3 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 4.5 APG) to our All-Name Team just the same.
9. North Carolina, (26-6)
Well, the Tar Heels beat Duke--this time--but also lost at UVA. We still don't know what to expect from them in the tourney. We do know what to expect from junior guard Joel Berry II (15.3 PPG, 3.7 APG).
10. Baylor, (25-6)
The Bears are in. The Bears are out. In. Out. Um... Okay, before we get in trouble, let's focus on Johnathan Motley (17.5 PPG, 10.0 RPG).
