Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Pickups - Week 16

Week 16 fantasy basketball waiver wire pickups, adds, and sleepers for the 2019-2020 NBA season. Kev Mahserejian recommends guards, forwards and centers to target through waivers or free agency in fantasy leagues.

The waiver wire is where leagues are won and lost. The draft is long past and now your rosters feel completely different if you are even moderately active. Players come and go due to poor performances and/or injury all the time. Staying on top of your needs is essential to winning matchups and grinding your way to a championship.

As a reminder for most leagues, it is crucial to plan ahead. Waiver wire adds, scheduling, and player injuries are all things to consider. Make an effort to improve your team by maximizing your weekly adds and utilizing streamer spots via the waiver wire. Be wary of weekly streaming options and stay ahead of your opponents.

Our staff at RotoBaller has great insight and daily columns on how to improve your squad and tips to make your team successful, so be sure to check them out! Now, let's get prepared for Week 16.

Week 16 Standard Leagues - Waiver Wire Pickups

*Securing your categorical needs at this point is important, especially if you're playing in head-to-head leagues*

Columns are written based on H2H 9-category standard size leagues:

Jalen Brunson - PG - Dallas Mavericks (26% owned)

18/8/7

13/11/4

10/11/7

11/7/3

21/9/4

7/3/3

27/8/4

These are Brunson's points/assists/rebounds when Luka Doncic has been injured or out. Pick him up and hold for as long as Luka is out.

Josh Hart - SG - New Orleans Pelicans (32% owned)

Hart's role presumptively should have been diminished with Zion's arrival, however, the opposite has occurred. Hart's production has seen a solid bump in recent weeks as he is producing consistent threes, stocks, and rebounds. His minutes are in the high-twenties and although he does not score too much, he is too valuable to leave on the waiver wire in 12-plus teamers. The occasional dud should be expected given the nature of his usage and play but he is a great glue-guy for most fantasy rosters.

Malik Beasley - SG - Denver Nuggets (14% owned)

Malik Beasley is back in the Nuggets' rotation of late and has been pretty decent. His field goal percentage is abysmal but at least he is scoring double-digit points per game since January 16th and racking up steals. Beasley is only playing so much because Jamal Murray is injured and should be dropped if he remains in Denver past the deadline. Nevertheless, his name has been circulated around the trade circuit all year and due to his restricted status in this upcoming offseason, it should be expected that he is elsewhere by Friday.

Monte Morris - PG - Denver Nuggets (10% owned)

Monte Morris is playing some solid ball since Jamal Murray went down with an ankle sprain. He is averaging 12 points, five assists, three rebounds, a steal and two threes with great efficiency over the past two weeks (essentially top-100 production). He is not going to overwhelm you anywhere but is great for this all-around production and should continue to provide value in the five games leading up to the All-Star Break.

Malik Monk - SG - Charlotte Hornets (7% owned)

Malik Monk is tricky to spin here. On one hand, he has played decently well (fantasy-wise) over the past five games and could get traded this week to a team that increases his usage. On the other hand, he has been extremely streaky throughout his NBA career and could land in an unfavorable situation that hinders him further. Monk is not much more than an upside play for a 14-plus team league. His value lies in scoring and threes.

Terence Davis - SG - Toronto Raptors (5% owned)

Davis just went off for 31 points (with six threes) this past Sunday. That is great and so is the fact that he will have an expanded role with Norman Powell indefinitely out with a finger injury. However, he did not do much else besides score. His per-36 numbers are extremely promising, especially with how efficient he's been this season, however, it is typically hard to trust rookies, especially those fighting for usage among a talented group of guards like Kyle Lowry and Fred Van Vleet. He's an add in 12-plus team leagues if he can come close to repeating Sunday's performance.
