Fantasy Baseball Points League Waiver Wire - Best Choices
Kyle Gibson, St. Louis Cardinals
Yahoo: 37%; ESPN: 22%
The Ageless Wonder, 36-year-old Gibson has pitched rather well this season. In 87 2/3 innings, he has a 3.70 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, and 77:36 K/BB ratio. He's also been doing well lately, for the most part. Three of his last five outings have been quality starts.
Even though both of Gibson's upcoming matchups will take place on the road, they're very favorable. The Nationals and Pirates are bottom-five in OPS against right-handed pitching. On top of that, Gibson has been much better on the road than at home. In 43 2/3 innings, his ERA is just 2.68. Overall, he's a sneaky-good pick with vast availability and promising upside.

Sean Manaea, New York Mets
Yahoo: 22%; ESPN: 14%
Manaea is in the middle of a solid year with the Mets. Through 76 1/3 innings, he has a 3.89 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 76:34 K/BB. Over his last three starts, he's thrown 15 2/3 innings and given up just four runs.
Like Kyle Gibson, Manaea is expected to face the Nationals and Pirates on the road. The Nats are still bottom-five against lefties, but the Pirates are noticeably better, ranking 15th in OPS against them. Also like Gibson, Manaea has been much better on the road. Through 31 1/3 innings, his ERA is 3.16. Overall, you can't go wrong with either of these options. If Gibson isn't available in your league, there's a chance Manaea may be. If either of them is up for grabs, consider taking a chance.

Fantasy Baseball Points League Waiver Wire - Next Choices
David Peterson, New York Mets
Yahoo: 5%; ESPN: 2%
If Manaea isn't available in your league, there's a solid chance that Peterson is. Fortunately, he's been just as good (albeit with a smaller sample size), and he's set to face the same teams (Washington and Pittsburgh on the road). Another road warrior, his ERA away from Citi Field is just 2.84.
The only reason that Manaea is a "Best Choice" and Peterson is a "Next Choice" is the sample size. Peterson only has one-third the amount of innings (27) that Manaea has. He also has slightly less strikeout upside. He has just a 6.7 K/9. Regardless, he's a solid option in points leagues.

Simeon Woods Richardson, Minnesota Twins
Yahoo: 18%; ESPN: 7%
Woods Richardson has been impressive through 66 innings, posting a 3.41 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 56:19 K/BB. Unlike every other pitcher listed in this week's article, he'll make two starts at home (where he has a 3.46 ERA). First, he'll face the Tigers, who are 19th in MLB against righties. This projects to be a favorable matchup for the young righty.
However, his second start will come against the Astros. Had this been a few weeks ago, this may have been a favorable matchup. The Astros have turned things around and are starting to look like their normal selves. Maybe if Woods Richardson's second start were against a weaker offense, he'd be a "Best Choice." I've been around the game long enough to know that you don't bet against the Astros, especially since they're fourth in OPS against righties. A start against the Tigers may outweigh a start against Detroit, but I'd suggest holding off on Woods Richardson unless the others list above him aren't an option.

Fantasy Baseball Points League Waiver Wire - Deeper Choices
Zack Littell, Tampa Bay Rays
Yahoo: 24%; ESPN: 11%
After giving up six runs in Atlanta on June 14, Littell has bounced back well in his last two outings, getting through five innings and allowing two runs in both. He's been solid all year, posting a 4.17 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and 82:16 K/BB.
What's holding Littell from being higher-rated on this list is that he doesn't often go deep into games. In 16 starts, he's only completed six innings seven times. In leagues that factor quality starts, it might be harder to rely on him.
Another reason that Littell isn't higher is the fact that both of his starts will come on the road. Unlike his predecessors, Littell has an abysmal 5.13 ERA in 33 1/3 away innings. He's a good pitcher, but with that in mind, he should only be used in desperate situations. He's set to face the Royals and Rangers.
