Trevor Rogers Injury Update
Miami Marlins left-hander Trevor Rogers (biceps, shoulder) still has not resumed throwing. Rogers initially landed on the injured list with a left biceps strain and even made two solid minor-league rehab starts before getting shut down again due to right-shoulder discomfort.
The 25-year-old southpaw last pitched in a rehab game on June 4, but there's no timetable for him to resume a throwing program, so he definitely won't rejoin Miami's starting rotation until at least late July. Rogers has only made four starts for the Fish in 2023, going 1-2 with a 4.00 ERA (4.11 FIP), 1.22 WHIP, six walks, and 19 strikeouts in 18 innings. Fantasy managers in deep-mixed leagues should start looking for a replacement if they haven't already.
Ross Stripling Injury Update
San Francisco Giants right-hander Ross Stripling (back) threw in a rehab game on Thursday with Single-A San Jose. It was his third rehab appearance as he tries to work his way back from lower-back tightness that has kept him on the shelf since his last start on May 17. Fantasy managers can expect Stripling to return at some point in June.
Before the injury, the 32-year-old was putting up disappointing numbers, posting a 7.24 ERA, 1.58 WHIP, and 17.8% strikeout rate over 32.1 innings after producing solid numbers in 2022. Stripling has had limited fantasy value for the past few seasons, but he's almost irrelevant right now without decent rate stats.
Corey Kluber Injury Update
Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Corey Kluber (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday. This comes the day after Kluber was crushed in a three-inning out versus the Minnesota Twins.
The 37-year-old was recently demoted to the bullpen after a horrendous beginning to the season. Hopefully, some time off will help Kluber get back on track. In the meantime, Brandon Walter has been recalled and made his debut against the Twins yesterday.
Shelby Miller Injury Update
Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed hurler Shelby Miller (neck) was placed on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday with neck pain, and according to manager Dave Roberts, he'll miss three to four weeks. The 32-year-old has thrived this year in a bullpen role, producing his best numbers since 2015 with a 2.40 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 25.8% strikeout rate across 30 innings of work.
Miller doesn't have much relevance in fantasy even before the injury, as he has just two holds and no saves to his name. Fantasy managers can ignore his status for the most part.
Garrett Crochet Injury Update
Chicago White Sox left-handed reliever Garrett Crochet (shoulder) received a cortisone shot in his left shoulder on Wednesday, and the team's lead doctor estimates a two- to three-week absence before Crochet is back to game action. The 24-year-old southpaw was put on the injured list for the second time this year with left-shoulder inflammation.
Barring a setback, he should be able to rejoin Chicago's bullpen early in the second half of the season in late July. Crochet got a late start to the 2023 season after finishing up his rehab for Tommy John surgery. He's made 10 appearances out of the bullpen and has allowed five runs (four earned) on 10 hits while walking 11 and striking out nine in 10 innings.
