Austin Riley Injury Update
Atlanta Braves third baseman Austin Riley (back) was removed during Sunday's game against the New York Mets. The slugging infielder appears to have injured himself during a swing in the third inning. As a precaution, the Braves decided to remove Riley from the game before the bottom of the fourth inning. Braves manager Brian Snitker reportedly said that Riley was dealing with tightness in his side before the game. The team obviously doesn't want to take any chances with their young superstar.
Snit told @Buster_ESPN that Riley felt the side tightness during BP and in that AB in the third inning. The Braves don't want to take any chances, Snit said. https://t.co/Ayk4OimkmC

Fantasy managers shouldn't hit the panic button quite yet. There should be more information on his status following Sunday's game. Orlando Arcia, Luke Williams, and Zack Short would be options to play third base if Riley does miss time.
Grayson Rodriguez Injury Update
Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Grayson Rodriguez (shoulder) felt good after throwing a 30-pitch bullpen session on Sunday. The talented right-hander has been sidelined for a couple of weeks with right-shoulder inflammation, but he is getting closer to a return.
#Orioles starter Grayson Rodriguez (right shoulder inflammation) threw another bullpen session today, this time 30 pitches. He said he continues to feel good, isn’t yet sure what’s next on his schedule.
He’s eligible to return from IL later this week (Wednesday 5/15).

It is unclear what is next on the schedule for Rodriguez as the Orioles have not announced if a minor-league rehab start will be required. Nevertheless, the former first-round pick is eligible to return this upcoming Wednesday and he should be back around that time frame. Rodriguez should still be rostered in all formats as he owns a 4-1 record with a 3.71 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 37:12 K:BB through six starts this season.
Brandon Nimmo Injury Update
New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (ribs) hit a walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth against the Atlanta Braves to give the Mets a 4-3 win. Nimmo, who was sitting out on Sunday due to intercostal irritation, came in as a defensive sub in the eighth inning and stayed in to hit in the ninth.
The veteran lefty said in an interview earlier in the game that he would be good to go Monday, but apparently, he was already feeling well enough to make a major impact on this game. Nimmo should be started in weekly leagues next week barring any news of a setback. (MLB.com)
Ke'Bryan Hayes Injury Update
Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes (back) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday with a back issue, per Kevin Gorman of Tribune-Review Sports. In a corresponding move, the Pirates promoted Alika Williams from Triple-A. Hayes has posted a solid .240/.322/.318 line with only one long ball and a strong 16.1% K rate. However, Hayes has been in a bit of a slump since April 28 with a .121/.189/.152.
Pirates manager Derek Shelton said 3B Ke’Bryan Hayes is having back issues and will go on the 10-day IL. Alika Williams will be recalled from Indy.

Williams has appeared in 15 games this season and put up a modest .239/.271/.348 line. Williams may occasionally see starts at the hot corner in Hayes' absence, but a majority of the starts will go to Jared Triolo, who entered Saturday with a .210 AVG.
Kris Bryant Injury Update
Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant (back) was seen taking batting practice multiple times and running the bases last week. This suggests that he is quickly approaching his rehab assignment, which is tentatively scheduled to begin on Tuesday, May 14.
Manager Bud Black said that the plan is for Bryant to rejoin the major league roster next weekend when they travel to San Francisco for a three-game set opening on Friday. Bryant struggled at the plate at the beginning of the season with a poor .149/.273/.255 line through 13 games. Last season, in 80 games, he also disappointed with a .233/.313/.367 line. The 32-year-old has been battling injuries for the past few seasons and should remain on your waiver wire for the time being. (MLB.com)
Kenta Maeda Injury Update
Detroit Tigers veteran Kenta Maeda (illness) has been placed on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 8, with a viral infection, In a corresponding move, the Tigers recalled outfielder Akil Baddoo from Triple-A Toledo. The veteran Maeda is 1-1 with a 6.75 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in seven starts covering 30 innings.
The Tigers have announced the following roster moves:
*Placed RHP Kenta Maeda on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 8, with a viral illness
*Recalled OF Akil Baddoo from Triple A Toledo— Tigers PR (@DetroitTigersPR) May 11, 2024
He pitched on May 7 against the Cleveland Guardians with poor results, going only two innings and surrendering seven earned runs on five hits and three walks. Baddoo likely will be a reserve outfielder during his stay on the roster. It appears that the Tigers will recall right-hander Matt Manning to take Maeda's upcoming Monday start against the Miami Marlins.
Jung Hoo Lee Injury Update
San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee (shoulder) was removed early during Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. This is a shame considering Lee returned to Sunday's lineup after missing the last three games due to a foot issue.
Giants say Patrick Bailey has a viral illness, which is better than the alternative given that he just came off concussion IL. Jung Hoo Lee has a shoulder strain.
— Alex Pavlovic (@PavlovicNBCS) May 12, 2024
The organization is going to further examine Lee to determine the severity of the injury. The Giants are already down Michael Conforto (hamstring) and Jorge Soler (shoulder), so the outfield depth is getting thin. The mix of Austin Slater, Luis Matos, and Heliot Ramos figure to be more involved with the outfield banged up in San Francisco.
TJ Friedl Injury Update
Cincinnati Reds outfielder TJ Friedl (thumb) was pulled out of Sunday's game against the San Francisco Giants. The speedy outfielder was taken out after being hit in the hand by a pitch. Luckily, the X-rays came back clean and Friedl is only dealing with a left thumb contusion.
The Reds might decide to hold him out for a few days depending on the pain and swelling. If he misses time, Jake Fraley and Stuart Fairchild would probably see more action in the outfield.
Jasson Dominguez Injury Update
New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez (elbow) is set to begin a rehab assignment in Single-A Tampa on Tuesday or Wednesday, according to manager Aaron Boone. Dominguez has been sidelined since September after having Tommy John surgery. Once he begins his rehab assignment, it will start a 20-day clock in which the Yankees have to decide to add him to the active roster or option him to the minor leagues. "Hopefully it is a tough decision at that point because good things are happening here," Boone said on Saturday.
Aaron Boone: DJ LeMahieu hit live off JT Brubakaer today. He'll hit live again Tuesday.
Jasson Domínguez will start a rehab assignment at Single-A Tampa on Tuesday or Wednesday. #Yankees
— Gary Phillips (@GaryHPhillips) May 11, 2024
The Yankees outfield trio of Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, and Alex Verdugo are all hitting for an OPS+ over 110, providing plenty of production and potentially plenty of time for Dominguez to get right before joining the active roster again. Fantasy managers will want to check in over the next few weeks to monitor Dominguez's progress through his rehab assignment.
