Corbin Carroll Injury Update
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll (knee) is not in the lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Colorado Rockies. Carroll suffered a knee contusion while attempting to make a leaping catch during Saturday's contest.
He left that game early and it looks like he needs another day to get right. The dynamic 22-year-old should be considered day-to-day for now. Alek Thomas is starting in center field and batting ninth against Austin Gomber on Sunday.
J.D. Martinez Injury Update
The Los Angeles Dodgers placed designated hitter J.D. Martinez (back) on the 15-day injured list on Friday with lower back tightness. The move is retroactive to April 25. The good news for the Dodgers is that they also got back catcher Will Smith (concussion) and infielder Max Muncy (paternity list) for the start of the weekend series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Hopefully, the 35-year-old Martinez will require a minimal stint on the injured list. In his first 23 games and 98 plate appearances in his first year in LA, the veteran right-handed slugger is batting .250 (22-for-88) with nine doubles, two triples, four home runs, and 15 RBIs. Martinez needs to be stashed in an IL spot in all fantasy formats until he returns.
Tim Anderson Injury Update
Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson (knee) will commence a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte over the weekend. Anderson sustained a left knee sprain, which caused him to miss two weeks of play. He will play a few games in Charlotte to ensure that he is prepared to return to the White Sox lineup before their home series against the Minnesota Twins starting on Tuesday.
On the season, the 29-year-old is hitting .298/.327/.404 with five stolen bases and a 102 OPS+. He only played in 11 games over that span and has been replaced by Elvis Andrus at shortstop. Once Anderson returns, with the assumption that his bat stays hot, the White Sox are hoping to rejuvenate their morbid offense.
Jacob deGrom Injury Update
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jacob deGrom (elbow) was placed on the injured list on Saturday with right elbow inflammation. On Friday, deGrom left his start against the New York Yankees with left forearm tightness. The situation changed with more evaluation and now deGrom will be on the IL for at least 15 days.
It's horrible news for everyone involved as he was pitching like the ace he is and will now be shut down for some time. It's not known how long he will miss, but an extended absence may still be in the cards.
Aaron Judge Injury Update
New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge (hip) was diagnosed with a mild strain near the top of his hip. Manager Aaron Boone already said the injured list was a possibility, but now the Yankees have a little more clarity on the situation.
The team would like to wait to see if it improves but hope to make a decision by Monday. If Judge needs to go on the IL, the Yankees could back-date it to Friday, and waiting any longer will push up the date they are able to do so.
Julio Rodriguez Injury Update
Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez (back) is not in the lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Toronto Blue Jays. J-Rod left Saturday's contest early with back tightness so it makes sense that the Mariners are going to be extra cautious with their 22-year-old phenom.
He'll get an extra day off on Monday as well as the M's are traveling to Oakland to kick off a three-game set against their division rival. For now, it looks like a serious injury was avoided but fantasy managers will breathe a sigh of relief if Rodriguez is in the starting lineup on Tuesday.
