Liam Hendriks
Chicago White Sox relief pitcher Liam Hendriks is expected to be activated prior to Monday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. The right-hander is working his way back after being diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in January. He was eased back into action after undergoing cancer treatment.
Hendriks made six rehab appearances and threw a bullpen session as well. It appears the 33-year-old is ready to rejoin the White Sox bullpen. He'll immediately resume his role as the closer, so Hendriks should probably be rostered in all formats.
Vince Velasquez
Pittsburgh Pirates right-handed pitcher Vince Velasquez (elbow) has been placed on the 15-day injured list with right elbow discomfort. Velasquez, who was just activated from the IL prior to Saturday's start against the Mariners, only lasted two innings in the outing before being pulled.
He's heading for his second stint on the injured list due to inflammation in the same elbow. He should be out a while this second time around. Meanwhile, Cody Bolton was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move.
Matt Moore
Los Angeles Angels relief pitcher Matt Moore (oblique) was placed on the 15-day injured list with a right oblique strain on Sunday. Moore is arguably the Angels' most effective reliever, so this is a rough loss for the Halos.
He put together an impressive 1.44 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, 21:7 K/BB ratio, and 12 holds over 25 innings (22 appearances). Austin Warren (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list to make room for Ben Joyce, who was recalled from Double-A Rocket City to take Moore's place on the roster.
Carlos Rodon
New York Yankees left-hander Carlos Rodon (back) is "doing well" and will travel with the team on their West Coast road trip to Seattle and Los Angeles this week, according to manager Aaron Boone. Rodon is scheduled to throw another bullpen session on Monday. Rodon threw his first bullpen on Friday since receiving a cortisone injection for his balky back, and it went well.
The 30-year-old southpaw is being brought along slowly after initially starting the 2023 campaign on the injured list with a left forearm injury. Now his back is the main concern, but he's inching his way to what will likely be a lengthy minor-league rehab assignment. Fantasy managers are just hoping that they'll finally get to deploy Rodon at some point in June.
Pete Fairbanks
Tampa Bay Rays right-handed pitcher Pete Fairbanks' hip "locked up" on him while he was warming up in the bullpen during Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Fairbanks was warming up in the pen, presumably to come in for the save opportunity, before he was visited by trainers and walked off under his own power.
He is receiving treatment on his hip but manager Kevin Cash told reporters he didn't have an update beyond that. The Rays should provide another update on Fairbanks on Monday.
