We've got a full slate of games as usual, and this Sunday has got it all! We are here to give you some of our favorite picks and analysis for MLB daily leagues. There are at least five legitimate aces taking the mound, as well as some anti-aces that were going to target for some nice offense (Edwin Jackson, Scott Diamond and Wade Miley). Judging from the early returns, there are a lot of players who were slumping before the All-Star Break look to have benefitted from taken the extra time and can be had on the cheap, so let's do it!
MLB Players to Target for July 21, 2013:
P - Madison Bumgarner $9000 - There are a lot of aces going today, but Bumgarner appears to be in one of the better spots. Last time he pitched at home vs. Arizona, he went seven innings with seven strikeouts and allowed just one earned run. He's also 4-1 with a 2.72 ERA and 62 strikeouts at home on the year.
1B - Todd Helton $2400 - Don't look now, but old-man Helton seems to be much refreshed since getting the week off for the ASG. On Saturday night, he went 3-4 with a double, two runs, one RBI and a walk. Each of his at bats looked strong, and he made solid contact. Expect him to continue that and save some scratch with price tag near the minimum.
2B - Derek Dietrich $3200 - Facing Wily Peralta is good news for lefties. Peralta has let up eight homers and given up a .454 SLG against left-handed hitting, while pitching to an ugly ERA over 5.00 at home on the year. Dietrich also homered off Peralta in their meeting earlier in the season.
3B - Lonnie Chisenhall $2800 - This is more of a gut call, as Chisenhall has really turned it on since his most recent recall from the minors. The Indians also just refused to part with him for Cubs' trade chip Matt Garza, which should say something about what they think of Chisenhall's bat. Over his last five games, he's 6-for-16 with a homer and four RBI, and he's also 2-for-2 off Diamond on the year.
SS - Troy Tulowitzki $4200 - I've been shading Tulowitzki since he came off the disabled, list and its been working. Since the ASG, though, he's got four hits and is averaging four fantasy points per game. That shade just turned into a target versus Edwin Jackson in Colorado at home, as Tulo is swinging a hot bat.
OF - Dexter Fowler $3700 - As you can see, we're targeting Edwin Jackson at Coors Field here. The Rockies look like they are about to turn the corner, and taking their leadoff man who also happens to have a .559 SLG and 11 SB at home this year is an easy gimme. Oh, and he has five hits over his last three games with four RBI and a SB.
