What kind of getaway day is this?! It's certainly not a normal Wednesday, with only a handful of day games, so I am going to ignore them altogether for our purposes (OK fine, I’ll throw one play in there for you hardcore Ballers!) . I'm more confident than usual in my picks today, so go big or go home boys and girls! As Always check weather and lineups before first pitch!
Here are today's picks to click for Wednesday, July 10, 2013:
SP: Shelby Miller - $7200 - The newest young pitching stud for St. Louis has been absolutely dominant at home this year. He sports a 1.52 ERA and has 60 K in 51 IP at Busch on the year. Add in the fact he’s going against the strikeout-happy Astros and it becomes clear why Vegas has him as a -255 favorite.
1B Billy Butler- $3000 I bet Billy wishes he played half his games at Yankee Stadium. A hitter more known for his bat control and gap power than his home run stroke, he has really taken advantage of the short porches in the stadium with two homers in his last two games. He is made for this park-- use this to your advantage.
2B Kelly Johnson - $3000 - He’s been cold lately but these BvP numbers cannot be ignored: Johnson has a .318 BA, .909 SLG and 4 HR in 22 AB against Kevin Correia. I don't see much else that I really love at 2B today, so take a flier on KJ, especially since his asking price has crashed.
3B David Wright - $4000 - BvP play of the day here: Captain America is 11-for-24 with 6 doubles off Cain in his career. AT&T park is HUGE in right-center and right field, but there's a jet stream running down the line in left. I expect David to turn on one tonight, maybe two.
SS Hanley Ramirez Stud of the Day - $4900 - Ah, it must feel good for Hanley to be out of that cesspool that is the Miami Marlins franchise. Finally looking like the young stud he was always supposed to be, he now has six multi-hit games in his last ten with homers, doubles, triples, steals, you name it. He’s also going against a lefty (Tyler Skaggs) in the hitter-friendly environs of Chase Field tonight. Play of the day might be an understatement.
OF Austin Jackson - $4000 - It's only five at bats, but A-Jax has a .800 BA with a homer against Dylan Axelrod. I think the Tigers are going to score a bunch, and I expect at least two runs and a couple of hits out of the leadoff man for Detroit.
OF Alfonso Soriano - $3800 - Not gonna lie-- I love this guy. Soriano has been winning me a lot of money this week and I cannot believe more people aren't taking him. He hit another two bombs last night-- that's five in his last four games with eight RBI-- and tonight he faces homer-prone lefty in C.J. Wilson. Soriano has always been a streaky player, and this is a long-overdue positive correction for him; ride it while you can.
As always, remember to check your MLB daily lineups before they lock and make sure you are doing your own research, too, for optimal performance! The most successful daily leaguers are grinders who are constantly tweaking their lineups as the day goes on and fantasy news gets released. Good luck today, RotoBallers!
