Welcome, RotoBallers, to my catchers' fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups for Week 24 of the 2024 MLB season. This week, we'll examine catchers such as Miguel Amaya, Austin Wells, and Freddy Fermin.
These catchers have been hitting the ball well lately and are great pickups as we look ahead to next week. Let's dive in and discuss why fantasy managers should pick up Amaya, Wells, and Fermin this weekend.
All three catchers are rostered in under 40% of Yahoo! leagues. If you have any other waiver-wire questions about the catcher position, don't hesitate to contact me on X (@winesportstalk).

Fantasy Baseball Catcher Waiver Wire Adds
Miguel Amaya, Chicago Cubs (30% Rostered)
In his last seven games, the Cubs' right-handed catcher has had 13 hits in 26 at-bats with two home runs, 13 RBI, and seven runs. He hit four home runs in August with a batting average of .339.
According to @brendon_cubs, his strikeout rate has remained unchanged despite hitting more home runs, matching Nico Hoerner, one of the league's best contact hitters. Amaya will face three righties next week, a bonus for the reverse-splits catcher, who is .261/.317/.384 against RHPs this year.
Austin Wells, New York Yankees (29% Rostered)
Yesterday, Wells impressed with his dancing and his batting skills, helping the Bronx Bombers secure a win over the Cardinals in New York City. His two home runs marked his first multi-homer game, and he matched his career high with four runs batted in (RBI).
Wells has now hit 12 home runs as a Yankee, the second most by a rookie in New York, just behind Gary Sánchez, who hit 20 HRs in 2016. As the Yankees’ cleanup hitter in 20 games, he has a .346 batting average with five homers and 21 RBI.
Freddy Fermin, Kansas City Royals (10% Rostered)
Yes, Freddy's back on this list and is just 10% rostered. Catcher Salvador Perez is back in the lineup but has slid into the DH/1B positions, while Pasquantino is down for the rest of the regular season with a broken thumb.
This allows (forces?) the Royals to continue finding ways to get Fermin's bat into the lineup. For the season, Fermin is slashing .293/.340/.404, and in 27 games since the All-Star break, he is hitting .307 with two home runs, nine runs, and 14 RBI.
