STANDARD MIXED-LEAGUE VIABLE PICKUPS
Will Venable - Venable is continuing his great season for the Padres with a .275 average in 408 at-bats, including an OPS of .819. He has 46 extra-base hits with 112 hits overall and has swiped 16 bases in 21 tries. The last 25 games he has a .339 average with seven HR and 15 RBI. We've been recommending him for a while now, but if he's available he can still help your team.
Salvador Perez - Perez is having a solid season for the Royals with a .281/.315/.728 triple-slash which includes 10 HR and 63 RBI in 417 at-bats. He has also hit 31 extra-base hits, and has been showing good patience at the plate, striking out just 48 times this season. In the last 11 games he has a .390 average with a 1.230 OPS with five HR and 16 RBI, so he's getting hot at the right time for your playoffs.
Brandon Moss - Moss has a decent] average at .251 on the season, but his real value is the power he provides. He has hit 26 HR with 71 RBI in 390 at-bats, and over his last 24 games, he has a .286/.383/1.111 triple-slash with nine HR and 20 RBI. Avoid left-handed pitching and you will enjoy owning the Oakland slugger.
Adam Eaton - Eaton is proving to be a good leadoff hitter for Arizona with a .341 OBP and a .269 BA in 178 at-bats. The speedy outfielder has 42 hits to go along with three HR and 14 RBI. The last 20 games he has a .301 average with an OPS of .840, including three stolen bases.
DEEP-LEAGUE PICKUPS
Emilio Bonifacio - Bonifacio is showing his value to the Royals with a .274 average in 73 at-bats with the club. He is also wreaking havoc on the base paths, swiping 12 bases. He has yet to be caught stealing with his new team. In his last 12 games, he has a .277 average with 13 hits and a .725 OPS. He can be a one-category impact player at a weak position for the stretch run
Mitch Moreland - Moreland is not hitting for a good average, at just .244 in 393 at-bats. However, he is tearing the cover off the ball with 22 HR and 57 RBIs. Over the last 17 games, Moreland has a .224/.333./902 triple-slash with six HR and 12 RBI in 58 at-bats. If he sees some playing time, he could easily hit another five bombs over the next few weeks.
Avisail Garcia - Garcia is hitting very well in limited exposure with a .295 average in just 176 at-bats. He has 52 hits, including four home runs and 23 RBI. As with most young players, he is still learning the strike zone-- he's struck out 45 times against just nine walks. Over the last 25 games, he is hitting .344 with a .857 OPS, including 13 RBI and 44 total bases.
