Happy Sunday, Rotoballers, and welcome back to the FINAL 2024 edition of first base and third base fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups for Week 27 — September 23 through September 29.
Waiver Wire Pickups for Shallow Leagues (30-50% rostered)
Connor Norby, 2B/3B, Miami Marlins (48% rostered)
If you haven't heard by now, the trade for Connor Norby has paid dividends for the Marlins. He figures to be a piece for Miami to build around in the future, posting a .800 OPS in 38 big-league games, which includes 17 extra-base hits and 18 RBI.

THE FUTURE OF THE MARLINS IS HERE AND HIS NAME IS CONNOR NORBY pic.twitter.com/WfcQkRStoE

In his last seven games, the former second-round pick is hitting .304 with seven hits and five walks. Although brief, his first taste of the majors may have already made the Orioles regret trading him. Norby has been able to hit for power and average and has fit the bill of a former top prospect.
Justin Turner, 1B/2B/3B, Seattle Mariners (44% rostered)
It might be too little too late for Justin Turner's stint with the Mariners. Still, the veteran is doing everything he can to move Seattle into a playoff spot with just about a week of the season remaining. The M's are two games back of the final AL wild-card spot as of Saturday afternoon.

Turner has slashed .333/.400/.583 with eight hits, four runs, a homer, three RBI, and four walks in his last seven games. We don't know what the future holds for the 39-year-old, but he's proven during this final stretch that he can still hang with the best of them offensively when he's on.
Waiver Wire for Deeper Leagues (10-30% rostered)
Pavin Smith, 1B/OF, Arizona Diamondbacks (21% rostered)
A lifeline for the Diamondbacks during last year's improbable run to the World Series, Pavin Smith appears well on his way to another scorching October. He's batted .417 across his last seven games and .364 in his last 15.

What makes Smith's Linsanity run so amazing is that the 28-year-old was optioned on August 1 and was recalled about a month ago, on August 19. Clearly, he wanted to remain with the club for the stretch run, and he's proved he belongs in a big way.
Michael Toglia, 1B/OF, Colorado Rockies (24% rostered)
Earlier this season, Michael Toglia appeared on this list because of his penchant for hitting dingers. His batting average isn't great, but he's managed a .781 OPS in 108 games this season for the Rockies and reached the 25-homer mark on Friday vs. the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

Of course, the 26-year-old benefits from Coors Field as his home ballpark, but taking Michael Kopech deep at Dodger Stadium is a fairly good sign. Plus, at 59-95, the Rockies will take any positives they can after their disappointing campaign.
Deeper Waiver Wire Options to Consider (Under 10%)
Jose Iglesias, 2B/3B, New York Mets (9% rostered)
OMG, how did it take this long for the Mets' sparkplug to land on this list? The Mets recalled Jose Iglesias on May 31 and arguably had one of the most significant impacts on the club since. Right now, he's swinging a hot bat as well. The veteran slashed .464/.464/.643 with 13 hits, including a homer and two RBI.
OMG!

— SNY (@SNYtv) September 21, 2024
As SNY noted, the 34-year-old extended his hitting streak to 15 games on Saturday against the Phillies. New York has been one of the more intriguing stories in MLB this season. The Amazins seemed to be a lost cause to begin the campaign, but have one of the second-half's best records at 36-23. Iglesias has helped to will the Mets into playoff contention; perhaps he can do the same for your fantasy team.
