As the season progresses, we continue to see developments on both sides of the ball for teams. This tends to happen because of injuries, but with four weeks in the books, teams are also beginning to bench players that are underperforming in order to give potentially more talented players an opportunity.
In this article, my FanDuel DFS lineup targets, I will be headlining a few of my top plays on FanDuel for Week 5 of the daily fantasy football season.

FanDuel DFS Quarterbacks for Week 5
Tom Brady - QB, NE (at DAL, $8,800)
It seems foolish to avoid Tom Brady at this point in the season. He’s coming off a bye week, which means he’ll have had two weeks to prepare for an average Dallas secondary. On the season, he has recorded 1,112 yards and nine touchdowns in only three games. He’s also averaging nearly 45 attempts per game, and that is unlikely to change in a game that could be competitive throughout. Brady isn’t going to come cheap, but he’s one of the safest options on the board, and he makes a great stacking option with either Edelman or Gronkowski.
Jay Cutler - QB, CHI (at KC, $7,400)
Cutler hasn’t looked all that impressive this season, but he has essentially been playing without Alshon Jeffery on the field. Cutler is coming off his best start last week, and he was actually dominating a tough Arizona defense before he was injured. He’ll get a much easier matchup against the Chiefs, who rank as the worst passing defense in the NFL through the first four weeks. Cutler is throwing the ball around 40 times per game, and the Bears are +10 underdogs, which means they will likely continue to throw the ball this week. Cutler will also get an extra boost if Jeffery can suit up this week.
FanDuel DFS Running Backs for Week 5
Jamaal Charles - RB, KC (vs CHI, $9,100)
If you’re a strong believer in game script, then this is the pick for you. The Chiefs are -10 favorites this week, which means they will likely be winning early and use the second half to run out the clock. Charles has been the workhorse for the Chiefs, receiving 79 touches through the first four weeks and recording 457 yards and five touchdowns. He gets a great matchup against the Bears defense, which has been one of the weakest in the NFL this season. He also may be a bit under-owned, as he’s coming off a down game and Le’Veon Bell is priced $100 cheaper than him. He’s one of the safest options on the board, and he also has loads of upside. He’s a great play in all leagues this week.
Todd Gurley - RB, STL (at GB, $6,700)
Gurley is coming off his best game as a pro, in which he received 19 carries for 146 yards and added in two receptions for 15 yards. He also could have scored a touchdown at the end of the game, but opted to dive down and keep the clock rolling for the win. That was against a tough Arizona defense, and this week’s matchup may be a bit easier. While Green Bay is a significant favorite, the Rams would be wise to ride their workhorse back. He flashed why he was such a high draft pick last week, but he’s best suited for GPPs until his role in the offense becomes a bit more consistent.
FanDuel DFS Wide Receivers for Week 5
Demaryius Thomas - WR, DEN (at OAK, $8,600)
Thomas has been enjoying a good season, although his numbers have been hindered by a lack of touchdowns. He has also been overshadowed by the production of players like Julio Jones and Antonio Brown. Still, Thomas has recorded 33 catches for 361 yards and a touchdown this year. If he could find his way to the end zone a bit more, he would be in the conversation with the aforementioned studs. He gets a great matchup against the Raiders, who have really struggled as a defense this season. The Broncos have been slowly getting Thomas the ball more and more each week, and he’s a great option in what should be a good matchup.
Kamar Aiken - WR, BAL (vs CLE, $5,800)
Aiken is purely a GPP punt option this week, but the opportunity should be there. Steve Smith Sr. is likely to miss this game because of an injury, which will make Aiken the Ravens number one receiver. He played well last week after Smith went down with the injury, recording five receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown. He has good size (6’2”) and above-average speed, running a 4.45 40-yard dash. Cleveland’s defense has looked anything but impressive this season, and Aiken is a high-upside GPP option.
FanDuel DFS Tight Ends for Week 5
Rob Gronkowski - TE, NE (at DAL, $8,400)
This pick is extremely simple. Whenever the Gronk is playing, you can use him in your lineups. Through three weeks this season, he has recorded 16 catches for 308 yards and four touchdowns. He has one of the highest floors of any tight end, and he also has the highest ceiling, as well. He’s coming off his bye week, meaning he and Brady had an extra week to study the Cowboys defense, and he can be used in all leagues in which you can afford his price tag.
Owen Daniels - TE, DEN (at OAK, $4,900)
Daniels hasn’t been a huge part of the Broncos offense this season, but they will likely incorporate him into the game plan this week. The Raiders have been the worst team in the NFL against the tight end this season, getting burned in each of the first four weeks. In just four games, they have allowed 31 receptions for 380 yards and six touchdowns to tight ends. The Broncos will likely attack that weakness, which puts Daniels in the conversation as a GPP option for his price tag.
