I went golfing yesterday with friends I haven’t seen in quite some time and I took a few thoughts from the outing. First, it seems the weather around the country is absolutely gorgeous so perhaps attendance in games will be up over the next few days. Also, after talking baseball with my friends for nearly two of the four-and-a-half hours spent on the links, I’ve come to the conclusion that I may be an addict to MLB. Is there some type of Baseballs Anonymous where we can have group meetings? At any rate, it was good to spend some quality time with some quality bros yesterday. And I felt like I accomplished something by being outside for so long.
Below are my FanDuel picks for today. As always, remember to check your players to make sure they are in their MLB starting lineups before lineups lock, and make sure you are doing your own research too with our very own BvP Tool for optimal performance! The most successful daily leaguers are grinders who are constantly tweaking their lineups as the day goes on and fantasy news gets released. Good luck today, RotoBallers!
Weather the Storm
Looks like another clear and beautiful day across the country. It doesn’t appear that wind will be a factor either.
DFS Pitchers to Avoid for 8/27
- Today’s weekly star from the Rangers is Colby Lewis.
- The Indians have been very good against RHPs. Hector Noesi has been pretty bad against left handed batters.
- Do you trust newly promoted Liam Hendriks against a resurgent Twins offense? Because I don’t.
- Brad Peacock has made this pitchers-to-avoid list on several occasions. Today is no different.
- Diamondbacks’ lefty Wade Miley has been crushed at home this season, is facing a Dodgers team that has historically pummeled him and is squaring off against Clayton Kershaw. Talk about the chips being stacked against him.
The Main Course – DFS Lineup Picks for 8/27
Starting Pitcher DFS Lineup Picks
Clayton Kershaw, LAD ($12,200): There’s a reason he’s the most expensive pitcher.
Adam Wainwright, STL ($9,500): Though the Pirates have been tough against RHPs, Wainwright has typically had Pittsburgh’s number over the last three seasons. He’s declined only slightly during that time.
Marcus Stroman, TOR ($6,900): Obviously Stroman is the cheap option if you want to stack heavy batters. The Toronto righty has allowed five earned runs in three of his last four starts but he’s pitched well against Boston this season. Expect a bounce back from Stroman.
Catcher DFS Lineup Picks
Buster Posey, SFG ($3,500): It’s cliché to pick a guy who just came off a two home run game, but Posey has been an absolute force over the last week and he gets to tee off against LHP Franklin Morales today.
Wilson Ramos, WAS ($2,900): With two home runs and three RBIs in eleven at bats, it’s safe to safe Ramos has Kyle Kendrick’s number.
First Base DFS Lineup Picks
Freddie Freeman, ATL ($3,800): Freeman hasn’t recorded a negative point game in over a week and he has gone yard in a while as well. He’s due for a long ball.
Steve Pearce ($3,500): The surprising Oriole owns a .472 wOBA against LHPs at home and has been rather hot over the last week. Plus, I like to take advantage in selecting a fellow Carolina Gamecock whenever I can.
Second Base DFS Lineup Picks
Justin Turner, LAD ($3,500): Turner has been hot over the last week with a .487 wOBA. Look out Miley.
Jose Ramirez: CLE ($2,600): Ramirez has been very good over the last week. Expect his hot streak to continue against the hittable Noesi.
Third Base DFS Lineup Picks
Kyle Seager, SEA or Adrian Beltre, TEX ($3,200): I went with “cop out” and selected either third basemen in this game. They both have good matchups in this game and could each walk away with solid contributions.
Martin Prado, NYY ($3,100): Prado has found new life playing in pin stripes and he actually has some success against Tigers starter David Price. It still sounds weird to say “Tigers starter David Price.”
Shortstop DFS Lineup Picks
Hanley Ramirez, LAD ($3,500): Power hitter, check. Weak starting pitcher, check. Hitter friendly park, check.
Jhonny Peralta, STL ($3,100): Not only is Peralta playing his best right now but he has also crushed left handed pitching. That doesn’t bode well for Jeff Locke.
Outfielder DFS Lineup Picks
Melky Cabrera, TOR ($3,500): A big reason why the Blue Jays have hit righties so well this season is Melky. And a big reason why the Red Sox pitching has struggled against the Blue Jays this season is Melky.
Matt Kemp, LAD ($3,300): It appears Kemp is in LA to stay…at least until the end of the year. He’s certainly earned back his starting job the way he’s swinging the bat. I expect him to continue to swing the bat well against Miley.
Austin Jackson, SEA ($3,100): Mariners’ fans love King Felix with good reason, but the most important player in the lineup today may just be Jackson. Expect him to knock Lewis around today.
Coco Crisp, OAK ($3,000): If Crisp gets the starting nod he should take advantage of a rather hittable Peacock with a few base hits and a walk or two.
Michael Bourn, CLE ($2,900): Another guy who probably won’t hit a home run but should get on base and score some runs.
