FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (5/5/18): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

Tom Vecchio highlights the top FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks for 5/5/18, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.

We have a splits slate of games where the early slate starts at 1 pm, so there will be a few players from each slate. There are some fantastic pitching options on the slate, so you will need to find some value plays out there to fit these aces in your lineups.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel on 5/5/18. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

You can also read more DFS lineup picks for DraftKings and other sports too. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me up on Twitter @DFS_Tom.

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Kenta Maeda - P, LOS @ SDP (FD - $8,600)

This game is taking place in Monterrey, Mexico, so just take note that this game isn't in San Diego. By all accounts, this is a neutral park for hitter's and pitchers, so too much to be worried about either way. Earlier this season when Maeda faced off against the Padres, he put up 10 strikeouts in just 5.2 innings pitched, while allowing four runs, but came away with the win. The strikeouts will always be there against this Padres team, and if he is able to limit the runs this time around, we could be looking at a massive game from him. Last time out against them he put up 41 FanDuel points, so hopefully fewer runs, and going deeper into the game will bump the points up.

Kevin Gausman - P, BAL @ OAK (FD - $7,900)

Gausman has been pretty consistent over his last four starts, with a floor of 28 FanDuel points, and a high of 43 points. Solid consistency, which should continue as he is up against the Athletics, who have a 24% strikeout rate vs right-handed pitchers, which is seventh worst in the league. This is also a nice positive park shift for him being in Oakland, which is one of the best pitcher's parks in the league. He offers a bit of savings at the pitcher spot, which will allow you to spend up on some big bats.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Francisco Cervelli - C, PIT @ MIL (FD - $2,800)

Cervelli comes in with a .413 wOBA and a .250 this season vs right-handed pitchers, which should put him in a great spot tonight. He is in Milwaukee, which is a great positive park shift for him, and will be up against Jhoulys Chacín, who is struggling with the walks and earned runs. Cervelli has a five-game hitting streak in the works, with two home runs in that span.

Adrian Gonzalez - 1B, NYM vs COL (FD - $2,500)

Gonzalez certainly isn't the most exciting option at first base anymore, but he is cheap and has some good splits vs right-handed pitchers. He has a .315 wOBA and a .164 ISO this season vs RHP, which won't blow you away, but he also has a low 15% strikeout rate vs RHP. He isn't putting himself in a bad spot and is decently productive in this matchup. Gonzalez has a three-game hitting streak in the works, with one home run in that span.

Ozzie Albies - 2B, ATL vs SFG (FD - $4,600)

Albies is one of the young and exciting players in the league, and besides coming in with plenty of hype, he has great numbers to back it up. This season he has a .668 wOBA and a .630 ISO vs left-handed pitchers, which are simply just silly numbers. He has hits in seven of his last eight games and makes a great addition to a Braves stack which is becoming more and more popular.

Nolan Arenado - 3B, COL @ NYM (FD - $4,700)

Arenado isn't at home in Coors Field, so his price is slightly decreased and makes a nice GPP option because of that. He comes into this game with a .508 wOBA and a .316 ISO vs left-handed pitchers. Those numbers are insane, and yet some people will stay away from him because he isn't at home, and in a pitchers park. I will roll with him tonight despite all that, and with a large slate of games, hopefully at lower ownership.

Xander Bogaerts - SS, BOS @ TEX (FD - $4,200)

Bogaerts comes into this game with a .396 wOBA and a .176 ISO this season vs left-handed pitchers and is now up against Cole Hamels, who is giving up a .347 wOBA to righties. This matchup lines up nicely for Bogaerts, who is looking good, but not great since he came back from his injury. Hamels isn't the same pitcher he once was, and with his velocity dropping, Bogaerts should be able to jump on him in Texas, where Hamels has given up five of his eight home runs.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Curtis Granderson - OF, TOR @ TAM (FD - $3,500)

Granderson will likely make a pretty popular option on this slate since he is up against a right-handed pitcher, who is struggling. That pitcher is Jake Faria, who is giving up 1. 42 HR/9 to left-handed hitters this season. We know this isn't the best hitter's park in the league, but Granderson comes .418 wOBA vs right-handed pitchers. He isn't too expensive, so able to slot into most lineup builds.

Tommy Pham - OF, STL vs CHC (FD - $4,300)

Pham has home runs in two of his last three games and makes a solid play in all formats tonight. He has a .397 wOBA and a .184 ISO this season vs right-handed pitchers and has hit three of his five homers against RHP. Pham also brings a bit of stolen base upside, which can be great in tournaments, so load him for a jack and a bag.
