FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (5/12/18): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

We have a splits slate of games, and the start times are all over the place, so let's break this down. There is a very early slate which starts at 1 pm but is only two games. Next, there is a four-game early slate which starts at 4 pm. Then we finally head onto the main slate, which is eight games. A lot of different options, so I'll try to hit on players from the different slates so you have options.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel on 5/12/18. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

You can also read more DFS lineup picks for DraftKings and other sports too. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me up on Twitter @DFS_Tom.

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Chris Archer - P, TB @ BAL (FD - $8,800)

Archer comes in with six or more strikeouts in three straight starts, while only allowing two walks in that span. He has a solid matchup today vs the Orioles who are doing their best to show they are the worst team in the league. Baltimore has a 25% strikeout rate vs right-handed pitchers, which is good for fifth worst in the league. Archer is having some issues with hits and earned runs this season, but still has a 14% swinging strike rate, so still has the upside to take advantage in this matchup.

Noah Syndergaard - P, NYM @ PHI (FD - $10,000)

From a pure skill perspective, Syndergaard might be the best pitcher on the slate, but let's take a look at some of his numbers. He comes in with a 26% strikeout rate vs left-handed batters, and a 28% strikeout rate vs right-handed hitters. He has six or more strikeouts in three of his last five starts and has allowed six walks in that same span. Thor is up against the Phillies who have a 26.7% strikeout rate vs right-handed pitchers this season, which is second worst in the league. This matchup presents plenty of upside for him and reaching double-digits isn't out of the question.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Joey Votto - 1B, CIN @ LAD (FD - $4,100)

Just play Votto against a right-handed pitcher. It can be as simple as that if you want it to be, but allow me to elaborate. He has a massive .400 wOBA and a .156 ISO vs right-handed pitchers this season. He will be up against Ross Stripling, who is a reliever, making another start, and truly isn't a pitcher to be worried about. Votto has four of his five home runs this season vs RHP, so a good power spot for him tonight.

Javier Baez - 2B, CHC vs CWS (FD - $4,400)

Baez has a .434 wOBA and a .380 ISO this season vs right-handed pitchers, showing he has some reverse splits this season. He has hits in seven of his last eight games with three home runs and eight RBIs in that span. He is up against a favorite gas can James Shields, so just load him up.

Josh Donaldson - 3B, TOR vs BOS (FD - $4,100)

Donaldson going up against David Price today, who will be making his first start after missing one due to an injury. There is a lot of talk that the injury could be persistent for Price, and he could be in for a downturn in performance. If that is the case, then we want to look at Donaldson, who has great numbers vs left-handed pitchers, highlighted by his .353 wOBA and his .278 ISO. Great hitters park, and should make a solid play in either format.

Andrelton Simmons - SS, LAA vs MIN (FD - $3,500)

Simmons has a .383 wOBA and a .168 ISO this season vs right-handed pitchers, along with a super low 6% strikeout rate. He has the power, he has the consistency, and he is never hurting himself with bad at-bats. Over his last eight games, not including last night, he has five multi-hit games, with five doubles and seven RBIs.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Corey Dickerson - OF, PIT vs SFG (FD - $3,900)

Dickerson is up against Jeff Samardzija, who clearly isn't the same pitcher he once was and is fine to roster against. Dickerson has some serious power vs right-handed pitching, as all five of his home runs, this season has come against them. He has a .231 ISO and a 33% hard contact rate vs RHP.

Josh Reddick - OF, HOU vs TEX (FD - $2,700)

Reddick has cooled off since his hot start but is in a good spot to get that back going. Tonight he is up against Doug Fister, who gave up 1.29 HR/9 to left-handed hitters last season, and with Reddick's .171 ISO vs right-handed pitchers, it lines up nicely for him to get those power numbers going again.
