We have a nine-game slate to look at tonight and we are starting to get a few games into the season, so we should be able to start looking at some more stats soon. Personally, I like Corsi For, which is an advanced shot metric shot which can help identify offensive opportunity.
Vegas lines are big when it comes to picking games to target, and that's a good place to start for goalies. When it comes to skaters, goal totals is another main place to start. Usually, 5.5 goals are average, so targets game at six, and can look for goalies in games with a total at five.
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy hockey lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 11/8/18. DFS Forwards to Consider
Patrick Kane - W, CHI vs CAR (FD - $8,500, DK - $7,400)
Kane and the Blackhawks just saw their head coach be fired in what was a very surprising move this season. I'm banking on the fact the Hawks aren't going to just give up and we will see them come out with plenty of energy tonight. Kane is already averaging over 4.5 shots per game and on the first power-play unit. We have a full slate here so I wouldn't be too worried about ownership, so load him up in GPPs tonight.
William Karlsson - C, VGK @ OTT (FD - $6,600, DK - $5,600)
Karlsson seems a bit too cheap tonight specifically on DraftKings, so look for him over there in all formats. He is on the first forward line and on the second power-play unit, which is exactly the type of player you want in this matchup since it's so juicy. The matchup is him going up against the Senators, who are giving up over four goals per game, along with far too many shots on a nightly basis.
DFS Defenders to Consider
Keith Yandle - D, FLA vs EDM (FD - $5,500, DK - $6,300)
Yandle and the Panthers are struggling right now, but he is crushing it in the fantasy department, so a viable option on any night. He comes in averaging over three shots per game, along with blocking over one shot per game. That brings you a solid floor of points, while him being up on the top power-play unit brings you the upside.
Rasmus Ristolainen - D, BUF @ MON (FD - $4,600, DK - $5,300)
Ristolainen has replaced Rasmus Dahlin on the first power-play for the Sabres, so from one Rasmus to another. Regardless, he is too cheap on FanDuel tonight for the new role that he has and now facing off against the Canadiens, which is a very solid matchup for all formats. Ristolainen has a Corsi For sitting at 16.53 right now, which means he is generating plenty of shot attempts at even strength.
DFS Goalies to Consider
Jaroslav Halak - G, BOS vs VAN (FD - $8,200, DK - $8,200)
Halak is on the more expensive end of goalies tonight but comes in as a massive -235 favorite against the Vancouver Cancuks. He has posted 39 saves or more in two straight games, which gives him massive upside in terms of points since if he is able to come away with plenty of saves, the win should be there as well. Great for cash games due to being a large home favorite and good for tournaments due to the save upside.
