NHL is back! We have an eight-game slate to look at tonight and we are starting to get a few games into the season, so we should be able to start looking at some more stats soon. Personally, I like Corsi For, which is an advanced shot metric shot which can help identify offensive opportunity.
Vegas lines are big when it comes to picking games to target, and that's a good place to start for goalies. When it comes to skaters, goal totals is another main place to start. Usually, 5.5 goals are average, so targets game at six, and can look for goalies in games with a total at five.

DFS Forwards to Consider
Nathan MacKinnon - C, COL @ NYR (FD - $8,900, DK - $7,700)
MacKinnon is the most expensive center on FanDuel tonight and the second most expensive center on DraftKings, so you are certainly paying a premium for him, but it's truly worth it. He is up against a very weak Rangers team who has allowed 18 goals over just five games. MacKinnon is up on the first forward line and the first power-play, so he has a chance to rack up the goals the Rangers are so good at giving up.
Micheal Ferland - W, CAR @ TB (FD - $4,700, DK - $5,600)
Ferland is a bit of a cheaper option at winger today but has looked good to start the season. Not only has Ferland looked good, but the Hurricanes are impressing plenty of people around the NHL and while they may not end up at the top of the standings come to the end of the season, they are putting up numbers now and love to take plenty of shots. He has six points through six games this season and is seeing time on the first forward line along with the second power-play unit.
DFS Defenders to Consider
Jacob Trouba - D, WPG vs EDM (FD - $4,700, DK - $4,600)
Trouba is more of a "floor play" since he doesn't see any time on either power-play unit, but still brings plenty of fantasy value. He has this floor due to his shots and blocked shots, which can add up enough for him to reach value. He is averaging 3.2 shots and blocked shots per game, along with playing on the first defensive pairing.
Alexander Edler - D, VAN @ PIT (FD - $5,500, DK - $5,900)
On a night where there are so many offensive options to pay up for, it can be a somewhat contrarian idea to pay up for defense in tournaments. Edler is the ideal player to be paying for, simply due to the fact he does so much to rack up points. He has 11 shots, 29 blocked shots, and five assists through five games this season. Love his floor and potential ceiling with him being on the first power-play unit.
DFS Goalies to Consider
Devan Dubnyk - G, MIN vs ARI (FD - $ 8,600, DK - $8,500)
The Wild played last night but Dubnyk was not in net, so he will be good to go for tonight. He comes in as a -160 home favorite versus a weak Arizona team, which should put him in line for the win along with having some shutout potential. He is very expensive tonight, but you are paying up for what should be a guaranteed win.
