NHL is back! We have a 12 game slate to look at tonight and we are starting to get a few games into the season, so we should be able to start looking at some more stats soon. Personally, I like Corsi For, which is an advanced shot metric shot which can help identify offensive opportunity.
Vegas lines are big when it comes to picking games to target, and that's a good place to start for goalies. When it comes to skaters, goal totals is another main place to start. Usually, 5.5 goals are average, so targets game at six, and can look for goalies in games with a total at five.

DFS Forwards to Consider
John Tavares - C, TOR @ DET (FD - $8,400, DK - 7,900)
Tavares and the Maple Leafs are off to a blazing start and truly have one of the best offenses in the league. We are talking about multi-point or multi-goal upside in nearly every game. If you can afford a Maple Leafs stack, they should be a go-to any slate. They have him on the second forward line but the first power-play unit, which should be enough time to rack up the points.
Tomas Hertl - W, SJ @ NYR (FD - 5,300, DK - $5,900)
Hertl and the Sharks are coming off an eight-goal game the other night and in a spot to repeat that tonight. The Sharks are up against the Rangers, who are very young and inexperienced at defense, which will ultimately lead to plenty of offensive upside for the already dangerous offense. Hertl has two goals on the season and is on the second forward line and the first power-play unit.
DFS Defenders to Consider
Tyson Barrie - D, COL @ BUF (FD - $5,100, DK - $4,500)
Barrie isn't that expensive tonight and should be in a spot for some offense, with this game having an over-under set at six. The Avalanche are up against the Sabres, who should be one of the weaker teams in the league, but not as bad as they were last season. The price on him makes a great addition to a Colorado stack, which should be of the first power-play unit. Getting exposure to the upside from Nathan MacKinnon is never a bad thing.
Ryan McDonagh - D, TB vs VAN (FD - $4,800, DK - $5,200)
McDonagh is also somewhat cheap on defense and gets you exposure to the powerful offense in Tampa Bay. He is on the second power-play and up against the Canucks who have given up 14 goals in just three games. He had five shots in the first game along with one blocked shot, which gives him a solid base of points.
DFS Goalies to Consider
Pheonix Copley - G, WAS @ NJ (FD - $7,300, DK - $7,600)
If you are looking for a tournament play, Copley might be the guy for you tonight. He is on the cheaper side across the industry and will be facing the Devils, who are fresh off their trip to Sweden. Yes, the Devils opened the season in Sweden against the Oilers, so we haven't seen much from them. The Capitals are looking super strong right now and while Copley might allow a goal or two, he should come away with the win.
