Welcome to week 8 of the college football season! This main slate sure is a fun one, as we once again have Oklahoma and LSU on the same slate. Those two powerhouse offenses are both expected to score a ton and it'll be tough to pick between the two. Let's dive in headfirst and find the best plays on this slate!
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for the main slate of games on FanDuel and DraftKings on 10/19/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.
It's an extremely fun slate ahead of us, with more than enough offense to go around. I'll be breaking down the later slate in a different article, so make sure to keep an eye out for that as well. Let's dive into some of the top plays at each position. You can follow me on Twitter @VarneyDFS. I will be around all day to answer questions.

FanDuel, DraftKings DFS Quarterbacks
Jalen Hurts - Oklahoma - FanDuel $11,800 / DraftKings $9,000
Hurts is just on a different level than any other college football quarterback right now, throwing the ball for 300 and running for 100 on a week-to-week basis. Justin Fields has something to say about that, but the Oklahoma offense is just more efficient and leads to more points. Lincoln Reilly also leaves his starters in a lot longer. They face off with a West Virginia team that’s allowed 42 and 38 points to Texas and Iowa State over the last two weeks. Oklahoma is going to put up 40 points in this game and Hurts will find the end zone at least four times with the upside for six or seven combined scores. Hurts is a guy I’m going to prioritize in my cash games, and I’m not sure he’s worth fading in tournaments, either.
Trevor Lawrence - Clemson - FanDuel $9,500 / DraftKings $7,300
This is the cheapest we’re going to get Lawrence all season long. He’s still the same passer as he’s been, but these match-ups just haven’t been very tough. He threw for three touchdowns against FSU a week ago, but didn’t have to do much else as FSU stinks. This game with Louisville has posted a 62 total with the Tigers 24.5 point favorites. This Louisville defense just gave up 400+ combined yards to Wake Forest through the air, so Clemson should have any problem doing their thing here. Lawrence is a guy I love in all formats as I don’t see him staying under three scores in this game.
Also Consider - Joe Burrow, Brock Purdy, John Rhys Plumlee
FanDuel, DraftKings DFS Running Backs
Chuba Hubbard - Oklahoma State - FanDuel $10,500 / DraftKings $8,300
I think there will be a lot of people who get off of Hubbard today as they think this Baylor defense is something to be scared of. They are stellar against the pass, but have struggled against the run, even in wins. Opposing teams just don’t get to run the ball much as the Baylor Bears get out to early leads. Texas Tech ran the ball for 150 yards last week and we know Hubbard and OKST will outdo that. His volume is beyond insane at 25+ touches a game and it makes him a lock in your cash games.
Kam Martin and Shaun Shivers - Auburn - FD $7,700/$6,500, DK $4,600/$3,900
Kam Martin and Shaun Shivers are both going to see a ton of carries with JaTarvious “Boobie” Whitlow already announced our for the game. Martin is more of the bona fide back, but Shivers has been extremely impressive this year and is as good as anyone in this backfield. With Auburn nearly a 20-point favorite over Arkansas, both of these guys could easily see 12-15 carries for s combined 200+ yards. I prefer Shivers only because of the price, but do think Martin is a bit safer for the goal line carries. These guys are both cheap and great ways to pay up elsewhere on the slate.
Also Consider - Travis Etienne, Larry Rountree III
FanDuel, DraftKings DFS Wide Receivers
Justyn Ross - Clemson - FanDuel $8,000 / DraftKings $5,800
Justyn Ross is simply way too cheap for how good he is. Higgins and Ross are 1a and 1b to Lawrence, but Ross does have a few more targets and he's looked at more in the red zone. This price is just inexcusable for a guy that can put up 150 yards and two scores without a blink of the eye. Louisville doesn't have a good defense and they don't have any individual cornerbacks to worry about. Lawrence is going to throw for 300 yards in this game and I expect Ross to finish well over 100. He's my favorite wide receiver for the price in all formats.
Denzel Mims - Baylor - FanDuel $8,600 / DraftKings $6,700
Denzel Mims has been showing up in average match-ups all season long. Now, the Baylor Bears draw the Oklahoma State Cowboys and one of the worst defenses in the nation. OKST is going to give up 25+ points to Baylor annd this offense runs through Denzel Mims. He could be a lot more expensive here and I would still have any interest. Charlie Brewers just throws to him so much and the Oklahoma State defense hasn't shown the ability to stop anyone yet. I expect Baylor to move to 7-0 on the back of Denzel Mims.
Kyle Pitts - Florida - FanDuel $7,400 / DraftKings $5,100
Kyle Pitts has been the most consistent pass-catcher for this Florida Gators team that doesn’t move the ball through the air very easily. Trask has honed in on Pitts, completing 21 passes to him over the last four games for 263 yards and three touchdowns. This South Carolina team is coming off quite the upset, but they haven’t been very good otherwise. the Gators are -6 favorites, so Vegas expects it to be close with the Gators holding a slight lead. I expect Trask to lean on Pitts once again and 5+ catches seems like a lock at this point. His price isn’t high on either site and neither will his ownership be. If he finds the end zone, bingo.
Also Consider - Isaiah Hodgins, Jaylon Redd, Charleston Rambo, Albert Okwuegbunam
