College football week 7 is here and we have an exciting Saturday on our hands. LSU and Florida will face-off tonight, but we get a great appetizer with a noon battle between Oklahoma and Texas. We'll be focusing on that slate, and getting to the later games in another post. With a 775 1/2 total in the Red River Rivalry, we should see plenty of fantasy points today. Let's dive in and find a few top plays at each position!
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for the early slate of games on FanDuel and DraftKings on 10/12/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.
It's an extremely fun slate ahead of us, with more than enough offense to go around. I'll be breaking down the later slate in a different article, so make sure to keep an eye out for that as well. Let's dive into some of the top plays at each position. You can follow me on Twitter @VarneyDFS. I will be around all day to answer questions.
FanDuel, DraftKings DFS Quarterbacks
Jalen Hurts - Oklahoma - FanDuel $11,500 / DraftKings $9,000
You’d be playing with fire to go anywhere else. For one, this game between Oklahoma and Texas is going to shootout. We’re currently looking at a 75 ½ total, which is 15 points higher than the second game. The Texas pass defense is one of the worst in the nation and Hurts is going to dice them up. Somewhere between 35 and 45 fantasy points seems like a reasonable expectation. Sam Ehlinger is a bit cheaper on the other side of the ball and I like him in tournaments as well.
Trevor Lawrence - Clemson - FanDuel $9,400 / DraftKings $7,200
If you’re looking to save some funds, we’re getting an egregious discount on Trevor Lawrence this week. He’s had a terrible schedule, and this FSU team is going to at least keep it close enough for the starters to play a full game. We saw Lawrence dominate Syracuse in a similar situation just a few weeks ago. You have the weapons to pair him with on the outside and pair shouldn’t be over 10% owned. With all of the attention elsewhere, Lawrence won’t be popular on this slate. He lets you do whatever you want elsewhere while providing legitimate upside.
Also Consider - Sam Ehlinger, Quentin Harris
FanDuel, DraftKings DFS Running Backs
Deon Jackson - Duke - FanDuel $9,000 / DraftKings $5,400
We’ve been targeting the Georgia Tech rush defense all year long and we won’t stop now. They were gashed on the ground by UNC for 220+ yards and now face a Duke squad that’s even better on the ground. “Neon” Deon Jackson is the focal point of this offense and a guy they will make sure touches the ball 20 times. He’s a phenomenal running back, and should get over 100 yards in his sleep against this defense. The upside is huge and the price is far from prohibitive.

Trey Sermon - OKlahoma - FanDuel $8,800 / DraftKings $7,500
With Kennedy Brooks out, logic tells us Trey Sermon is going to see a nice uptick in volume. Rhamondre Stevenson is a great backup, but he’s been used as a third-string mop-up guy to this point. I find It hard to believe he’ll be trusted with many carries in such a big game. Sermon can do it all out of the backfield, allowing you to play him with Hurts. There will be plenty of points scored from this offense and Sermon could easily get involved once or twice.
Also Consider - Jonathan Taylor, Zach Charbonnet
FanDuel, DraftKings DFS Wide Receivers
CeeDee Lamb - Oklahoma - FanDuel $9,300 / DraftKings $7,200
If I’m pairing Jalen Hurts with anyone, it’s CeeDee Lamb. Lamb hasn’t been the biggest volume guy this year, if he’s caught five touchdowns and sees reliable targets from Hurts. This is the type of game where he can really lose his mind and be a slate-breaker. The Texas pass defense is beyond terrible and Hurts should throw for 300+ yards with ease. It’s hard to say a long touchdown is reliable, but I don't see getting out of this game without a 30+ yard CeeDee Lamb score. He’s expensive, but has more upside than any other receiver and should eclipse 40% owned.
Collin Johnson - - FanDuel $7,500 / DraftKings $5,200
Collin Johnson is returning from injury and the Texas Longhorns have been saving him for this game. He entered the year as the Longhorns clear number one option, but has dealt with injuries and Ehlinger finding Devin Duvernay. Johnson should get back to being targeted a ton this week and the match-up is obviously great. At 6-foot-4, Johnson is the best red-zone target on this team and could very easily score twice in this game. His price is low on both sites and I'm a fan in all formats.
Justyn Ross - - FanDuel $7,900 / DraftKings $5,900
If you're looking t pair someone with Trevor Lawrence, Justyn Ross and Tee Higgins are both great options. I'll take Ross, who has seen a few more targets and is cheaper. He's also the guy I think has a better game against this weak FSU secondary. His price is extremely depressed on both sites for a guy that's a lock for 100 yards if he sees the targets. Vegas expects Clemson to put up over 40 points and I expect Ross to get involved at least once.
Also Consider - Devin Duvernay, Jerry Jeudy, Brandon Aiyuk
