FanDuel Studs: Our Best DFS Lineup Picks for Fantasy Football

Real Talk Raph discusses FanDuel studs and his best DFS lineup picks from Week 5, as he helps you find fantasy football sleepers and win your FanDuel weekly NFL leagues.

Each week here at RotoBaller, we provide the subscribers of our DFS Lineup Picks of the Week Newsletter with some of the highest quality advice for salary cap fantasy football on FanDuel.  We also have lots of great FanDuel analysis weekly, so be sure to check back.

Why We Love Weekly FanDuel Football

Are you looking for some more fantasy football action, and want to get involved in weekly DFS games on FanDuel? I know I am. Are you one of those people whose fantasy football team is sporting a lackluster record through the first five weeks of the 2014 NFL season? Are you not that happy with the team you drafted this year in fantasy football? Maybe you are a frustrated AP, Mathews, Joique, Ball, Gerhart, Megatron, McCoy, Green or Ingram owner (just to mention a few disappointments). Well we have the perfect remedy for your fantasy football appetite.

The weekly format of FanDuel fantasy football is just what the doctor ordered. Draft a new team each week, and battle it out against your friends or as many opponents as you please on FanDuel. It's my favorite way to supplement my fantasy football teams, and plug-and-play guys that I wish I owned in my leagues on a weekly basis. After all there's nothing like owning DeMarco or Peyton for one week, when you missed out on them in all of your season-long fantasy football leagues.

Looking for An Edge?

If you play salary cap leagues on FanDuel, then our expert picks can give you the edge you need to win. Each week we analyze the player matchups, and the associated pricing on FanDuel, to identify the sleepers and value picks to put together a winning lineup. With each newsletter, you will receive our well-researched weekly picks for each position, with both a “Strong Play” and a “Value Play”, and we will also include two or three budget buster tournament plays for each position. All in all, you will be receiving a minimum of 12 of our expertly hand-picked recommendations for your gaming pleasure!

We’ve reprinted some of RotoBaller’s lineup picks from last week’s subscribers-only exclusive newsletter to give you an idea of the FanDuel analysis that we put forward each and every week. As you can see below, our experts had some sweet recommendations for Week 5 lineups, so hopefully you got in on the action! And if not, no worries, there’s still plenty of time for Week 6 and beyond.

A Recap of Some DFS Lineup Picks from Week 5

WR (Budget Buster) - Brian Quick ($6,000) - This enormous young man is starting to be one of the more consistent wide receivers in the NFL from week to week. He's not on the flashiest offense, but he does play half his games indoors and he's also a 6 foot 3 inch former #1 pick by the Rams that's finally delivering the goods.

He's averaging 5.3 receptions and 78.3 receiving yards per contest (22 targets in 3 games), so you know he is going to get his share of looks versus a mediocre Eagles pass defense. Get this widely forgotten about stud into your mix this week if you need some savings at the wide receiver position.

Result: 5 receptions, 87 receiving yards, 2 TDs - BULLSEYE

WR (Strong) - Alshon Jeffery ($7,500) - Last year was a huge breakout year for the Bears young and talented wide receiver, but 2014 did not necessarily start exactly as planned for fantasy owners.

Thankfully for us DFS players, his price tag is still depressed from his sluggish first 2 games, but over his past 2 contests, Alshon Jeffery has returned to form averaging 14.45 fantasy points per game and scoring his first touchdown of the season.

With the Panthers defense having their hands full in Week 5, and Brandon Marshall still being very banged up, there's a strong chance that the Bears #1a wide receiver will be busy catching bullets from ace quarterback Jay Cutler. Save at least a thousand dollars on your #1 WR for Week 5 action and thank us later.

Result: 6 receptions, 97 receiving yards, 1 TD - BULLSEYE

QB (Strong) – Drew Brees ($9,100) - When we start our analysis each and every week for DFS play, our strategy is to target the worst defenses in the league, and try to get into the action as heavily as possible. For Week 5 the winner is clearly Drew Brees and the Saints offense, as they get the Buccaneers 4th worst pass defense in the league, at their indoor home stadium in New Orleans.

To start 2014, Tampa Bay has given up over 1,000 passing yards, a league worst 8.7 YPA and 8 passing touchdowns (good for third worst in the league). On the flip side, Brees is having another great start to a season posting a 120.3 QB rating and a 77.1 completion percentage at home.

We recommend you save almost a thousand dollars and bypass Andrew Luck or Peyton Manning for Week 5; expect a huge game (20+ FP) if you are looking for cash game safety and go with a true ace quarterback this week.

Result: 371 passing yards, 2 TD, 3 INT  - HIT

QB (Value) - Matt Ryan ($8,500) - We don't usually get too cute with our quarterback recommendations because they are the most important part of any winning DFS lineup after all.

Going up against the pretty bad overall Giants defense (allowing 355.8 YPG to opposing offenses), the Vegas totals are highest of the week for this game with a projected 50+ total points. Matty Ice has also averaged a robust 22.6 points per contest through 4 weeks, while posting a 100.3 QB rating and 10 TDs; certainly elite thus far in 2014 for the former #3 overall pick.

One way or another, Matt Ryan and the Falcons wide receivers are going to get their high powered offense some scoring chances, and we're confident that with all the factors in play, we could be in for a good old fashioned Dirty Jerz passing slugfest in Week 5.

Result: 316 passing yards, 29 rushing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT - HIT

RB (Strong) - Le'Veon Bell ($8,600) - This recommendation is a no brainer for us in Week 5. Take our word for it, spending top dollar to get this matchup into your lineup is well worth every shekel.

Coming into this contest as the 4th highest scoring running back (per game average) on FanDuel through the first 4 weeks of action, we are salivating at Bell's chances to go bonkers in Jacksonville.

The Jaguars bleed out an average of 130.5 yards per game, and 4.2 yards per attempt to opposing backs. This is going to be a very lopsided battle with the NFL's #5 rushing offense going up against one of the league's worst run defenses, and Le'Veon Bell is sure to be the main beneficiary of that great divide.

Result: 82 rushing yards, 5 receptions, 36 receiving yards - BULLSEYE

QB (Bonus) - Eli Manning ($7,300) - We beg of you to use one of our three quarterback picks this week because we are so sure that they are all in for a big time (or at the very least above average) game.

Averaging 22.6 FanDuel points over the last 3 contests, it's become clear from the stats and the eyeball test that the Giants new offensive system is paying nice dividends for patient fans and fantasy owners.

We love The Book Of Eli for our sleeper quarterback selection for Week 5 and certainly don't think recent history has been a fluke, so go ahead and save a few shekels on the big names if you need a sneaky tournament play.

Result: 200 passing yards, 2 TD, 0 INT - HIT

WR (Bonus) - Brandin Cooks ($6,400) - This is the week to start the hit or miss rookie because he gets the third worst defense against wide receivers (Tampa Bay) to start the 2014 season.

To make the case better, the game is being played in New Orleans, which is highly favorable to a high powered offense that is severely prone to extreme home/road splits. Trust us, get the Cooks into the kitchen for Week 5's fantasy football action.

Result: 9 receptions, 56 receiving yards, 15 rushing yards - BULLSEYE

Travis Kelce - ($5,300) - If you want a budget buster tight end that's as cheap as your kicker or defense, then go with the severely undervalued stud from Kansas City. It's a crime that this high upside stud is priced cheaper than a 4 piece chicken nuggets pack, so take advantage of his 13.5 FanDuel points per game average (over his past 3 contests) and play him with confidence.

Result: 2 receptions, 15 receiving yards, 1 TD - HIT
