FanDuel DFS Risers/Fallers for Week 20

Welcome back, RotoBallers. Today I'll be taking a look at the Week 20 DFS risers and fallers for FanDuel lineups and daily league games. Player values are constantly moving targets in daily leagues. A high profile player can put together a couple of big games and see his price tag skyrocket. Likewise, a couple of bad games can lead a player's stock to plummet. The correlation isn't always immediate, leading to some discrepancies in value.

Savvy DFS players can take advantage of falling values and avoid inflated prices to find the best value on a given night in the hopes of increased success. In this article, I will identify players whose anticipated value relative to their current price is on the rise, making them desirable targets. I will also name players whose value is dipping below their cost, making them players to fade.

Note: I will only be selecting players who are owned in at least 75% of Yahoo! leagues. Graphs are taken from SportingCharts.com's NBA Daily Fantasy Value Tracker and are indicative of values on 3/7/17.

FanDuel Value Risers - Week 20

Reggie Jackson (PG, DET) - Just when it looked like his fantasy value was headed to the graveyard, Jackson strung together two impressive showings with 47 points, eight assists and six rebounds combined. He isn't Mr. Reliable, but at a low price point of $5K, he can easily surpass 5x value once again. Be wary of a pair of upcoming matchups against Cleveland, but he should be a solid play against the Knicks on Saturday.

Paul George (SG/SF, IND) - The post-trade deadline blues may have temporarily gotten to George once he realized he was stuck on a team that is struggling to make the playoffs in the East. He's making up for it now by torching the Hornets and Hawks for 30+ points in the last two games. After a five-game road stretch, the Pacers have easier contests against the Pistons and Heat at home, as well as road matchups with the Bucks and Knicks.

C.J. McCollum (PG/SG, POR) - There's no better way to break out of a shooting slump than facing the Nets. McCollum dropped 31 against Brooklyn, but more importantly it appears he has his shooting stroke back. McCollum has drained 10 shots behind the arc in his last three games after only making four in the previous three. Portland is fighting for its playoff life and will need him to keep firing away. Tasty matchups against Philly and Phoenix await this coming week.

Elfrid Payton (PG, ORL) - It's hard to call Payton a riser, given a look at his chart. He's more of a roller-coaster right now, but there is hope for the near future. Payton pulled off a triple-double versus the Knicks and has now reached 7x value in three of the last five games. The fact that he's averaging 31 minutes in the last three games is a good sign that the Magic will continue to lean on him the rest of this lost season. Look ahead toward a matchup with Sacramento as a great chance to use him.

FanDuel Value Fallers - Week 20

Klay Thompson (SG, GS) - No Durant has meant more responsibility, but not more value for Splash Brother #2. Thompson is is another shooting slump, hitting 17 out of his last 60 three-point attempts, good for 28.3%. The volume is there, as are the minutes (nearly 35 per game in the last five), but he'll need to have one of his breakout games before he can be trusted again. Matchups against Boston and San Antonio don't bode well, but the T-Wolves on March 10 could be the time to take a risk in tournament play.

Carmelo Anthony (SF, NYK) - Melo was already struggling mightily from the field before a sore knee kept him out of Monday's contest. He was shooting a not-so-cool 33% from the field over the last four games, leaving him under 5x value even as his price dropped. He is expected to play later this week, but the only game worth taking a chance on him is on Sunday against.... (who else?) Brooklyn.

Dwight Howard (C, ATL) - When he isn't busy arguing with his point guard on the floor, Howard has been steadily sinking in value on the fantasy scoreboard. Rebounding has not been an issue all year, but he is becoming less efficient in all other areas this past week. In the last four games, Howard has a 9/15 assist/turnover ratio and has just five blocks. He won't sink your DFS team in all likelihood, but right now he isn't returning as much value for his price as you'd like from a starting center.

Nerlens Noel (C, DAL) - Since joining the Mavs, Noel has had his moments, including a 15-point, 17-rebound game against Memphis last Friday. Unfortunately, a lack of consistency seems to have followed him over from Philadelphia. Noel only played 16 minutes in two of the last three games, which should draw concern about his fantasy potential the rest of the way. His perceived value jumped significantly once he was freed from Philly, but his actual value may not be much better.
