Below are my FanDuel lineup picks for Sunday, August 2nd. My goal with these DFS picks, as always, is to try to choose players who will outperform their expectations. These players can be high-cost players, or they can be sleepers, but we are always looking for players that have a chance to return the greatest value on FanDuel. Additionally, since the weekends generally have many afternoon and night games, I’ll make an effort to distribute my picks to cover all the timeslots going forward so that if you are playing an afternoon/night only league this article will still be useful.
Daily fantasy baseball leagues (DFS) are becoming the thing to do, and here at RotoBaller we are excited to help our users build their bankrolls. I’ll be covering FanDuel lineup picks, sleepers and general advice every Saturday and Sunday. I’ll also be putting my money where my mouth is by entering my final lineup (at the bottom of the article) into one of FanDuel’s many daily fantasy contests, so that RotoBaller users can compete against me.
Editor’s Note: If you play on FanDuel, you should also check out RotoBaller’s DFS Partner DraftKings – they’rehosting a one-day Fantasy Baseball league tonight. It’s FREE to enter and pays out $10,000 in cash prizes!

Last Saturday’s Review
Entry: $1
Winnings: $0
Saturdays For the Season: +$3.63
Pick Highlights: An embarrassingly bad day. My top offensive player, Joey Votto, put up a respectable 4.75 points, but it came in a 17-7 game.
Relationship Status: “Boooooooooooo”
DFS Starting Pitchers To Consider for FanDuel
James Shields (SP, SD) - $8,900
Shields faces off with Miami tomorrow in Miami, a park that is built for pitchers. He also happens to catch Miami without Giancarlo Stanton. The only downside of Shields is that he goes up against Jose Fernandez. Expect a low scoring game with a chance to grab a win.
Trevor Bauer (SP, CLE) - $8,300
It's all about walks with Bauer. When he is able to keep free runners off the base paths his strikeout stuff makes for huge upside. I think that in a pitcher's ballpark in Oakland, Bauer will lean on throwing the ball in the zone and relying on his electric stuff.
DFS Infielders To Consider for FanDuel
Victor Martinez (C, DET) - $2,900
Playing Victor Martinez at catcher, especially at this price, feels like cheating. He has a career 1.148 OPS with 4 homers off opposing pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez.
Johnny Peralta (SS, STL) - $2,900
He has homers the last two days and he is well on his way to his 6th career 20-HR season. Only Troy Tulowitzki has more such seasons since Peralta entered the league in 2003.
Lucas Duda (1B, NYM) - $3,100
Lucas Duda's last 8 hits have gone for home runs. What?!?!
DFS Outfielders To Consider for FanDuel
Hunter Pence (OF, SF) - $3,300
Hunter Pence faces lefty Martin Perez today. Pence has a .862 OPS against lefties this season.
Carlos Gomez (OF, HOU) - $3,500
Gomez is a perfect fit in Houston. A guy that likes to swing for the fences is on a team that 100% supports that idealogy. I expect Gomez to adjust to Houston quickly, especially in that hitter friendly ballpark.
FanDuel Sleeper Value of the Day
Daniel Murphy (3B, NYM) - $2,800
This is a pure bet on history. Murphy faces Jordan Zimmermann today, a pitcher with whom he's faced off against over 50 times. In 56 career at-bats, Murphy has 3 homers and a .339 average against the Nationals righty.
My DFS Lineup on FanDuel
Today I’ll be playing in $15K MLB Sac Fly game today. Remember to check your lineups throughout the day. You never want to get a goose egg for a guy that didn’t play.
