Below are my FanDuel lineup picks for Saturday, August 15th. My goal with these DFS picks, as always, is to try to choose players who will outperform their expectations. These players can be high-cost players, or they can be sleepers, but we are always looking for players that have a chance to return the greatest value on FanDuel. Additionally, since the weekends generally have many afternoon and night games, I’ll make an effort to distribute my picks to cover all the timeslots going forward so that if you are playing an afternoon/night only league this article will still be useful.
Daily fantasy baseball leagues (DFS) are becoming the thing to do, and here at RotoBaller we are excited to help our users build their bankrolls. I’ll be covering FanDuel lineup picks, sleepers and general advice every Saturday and Sunday. I’ll also be putting my money where my mouth is by entering my final lineup (at the bottom of the article) into one of FanDuel’s many daily fantasy contests, so that RotoBaller users can compete against me.
Editor’s Note: If you play on FanDuel, you should also check out RotoBaller’s DFS Partner DraftKings – they’re hosting a one-day Fantasy Baseball league tonight. It’s FREE to enter and pays out $110,000 in cash prizes!

Last Saturday’s Review
Entry: $1
Winnings: $0
Saturdays For the Season: +$8.78
Pick Highlights: If I could pick some successful hitters one of these days we'd be winning a lot of money. Once again, my reasonably priced pitching option came through. Jaime Garcia put up a nice 16-point day. Marlon Byrd, my lowest priced hitter added 8.5 to that total. Then, among my other seven batters, I scored a nifty 1.25 points...total! That was with superstars Mike Trout, Todd Frazier, and Paul Goldschmidt in the lineup. So frustrating.
Relationship Status: “We need to freshen things up”
DFS Starting Pitchers To Consider for FanDuel
Jake Arrieta (SP, CHC) - $10,500
In a cross-town rivalry game with the White Sox, I think Arrieta is the best pitcher on the board and expect him to shine. Arrieta is sporting a 2.66 FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) so far this season and is striking out north of nine batters per 9. Better yet, he faces off with Jose Quintana, and the White Sox have lost five out of the last seven times he's taken the mound.
Justin Verlander (SP, DET) - $7,700
Believe it or not, Verlander has been much better as of late. His last four starts have spanned 29 innings, during which he's pitched to a tidy 2.17 ERA while striking out 25 batters. Not bad for someone who seemed completely washed up just a month ago. He gets the Astros on Saturday, a conceivably tough matchup, but one with a ton of strikeout upside, as the Astros are the second most strikeout prone team in the league. Verlander will have to keep the ball in the park, but if he does, I could see a real nice return on his value here.
DFS Infielders To Consider for FanDuel
Aramis Ramirez (3B, PIT) - $2,700
Ramirez faces lefty Jon Niese on Saturday, who has been a hot pitcher of late. However, Ramirez has had the upper hand in their careers, hitting .286 with two homers in 21 at-bats. This is besides the fact that Ramirez has hit lefties at a significantly higher clip throughout his career, sporting a .893 OPS vs. lefties as opposed to .817 off righties.
Chris Davis (1B, BAL) - $4,900
There has been a lot of talk about how great Carlos Gonzalez and Nelson Cruz have been since the All-Star break, but Chris Davis should be right there with them. Since the break, Davis is hitting .315 with 12 homers and 31 RBI (entering the Friday night games). He's scorching hot and facing little known Oakland righty Chris Bassitt.
DFS Outfielders To Consider for FanDuel
Andrew McCutchen (OF, PIT) - $5,100
McCutchen is just about the safest .300/.400/.500 triple slash bet in all of baseball. Even after his slow start he's up to .299/.395/.520 which comes along with 18 homers and 77 RBI. He's playing at MVP form right now, and facing a lefty (Jon Niese) makes him a must have in my lineup.
Carlos Beltran (OF, NYY) - $3,100
Beltran is quietly putting together a real nice season, especially if you discount his slow start. In his 42 games played since June 1st, Beltran is triple slashing .292/.382/.500 with six homers. He gets Blue Jays righty Marco Estrada in Toronto, a place where the ball really flies.
Update: Beltran went yard late Friday night to cement a Yankees victory in Toronto.
FanDuel Sleeper Value of the Day
Joe Mauer (1B, MIN) - $2,400
This is more of a feel play than anything. He's hitting .300 in his past eight games with a homer and has been showing a little more pop as of late. At this price, he's a nice piece to slide into your lineup.
My DFS Lineup on FanDuel
Today I’ll be playing in $7K MLB Bunt game. Remember to check your lineups throughout the day. You never want to get a goose egg for a guy that didn’t play.
