Below are my FanDuel lineup picks for Saturday, August 1st. My goal with these DFS picks, as always, is to try to choose players who will outperform their expectations. These players can be high-cost players, or they can be sleepers, but we are always looking for players that have a chance to return the greatest value on FanDuel. Additionally, since the weekends generally have many afternoon and night games, I’ll make an effort to distribute my picks to cover all the timeslots going forward so that if you are playing an afternoon/night only league this article will still be useful.
Daily fantasy baseball leagues (DFS) are becoming the thing to do, and here at RotoBaller we are excited to help our users build their bankrolls. I’ll be covering FanDuel lineup picks, sleepers and general advice every Saturday and Sunday. I’ll also be putting my money where my mouth is by entering my final lineup (at the bottom of the article) into one of FanDuel’s many daily fantasy contests, so that RotoBaller users can compete against me.
Editor’s Note: If you play on FanDuel, you should also check out RotoBaller’s DFS Partner DraftKings – they’rehosting a one-day Fantasy Baseball league tonight. It’s FREE to enter and pays out $45,000 in cash prizes!

Last Saturday’s Review
Entry: $1
Winnings: $4
Saturdays For the Season: +$10.78
Pick Highlights: It's not often that you get a 3 homer day from one player, but A-Rod did just that for me. He carried the entire offense scoring 18.75 points, almost half of my entire team totals. Had A.J. Burnett done a little more on the mound I could've had a really nice pay day.
Relationship Status: “We’re back on the right track”
DFS Starting Pitchers To Consider for FanDuel
Gerrit Cole (SP, PIT) - $10,800
Cole leads the league in wins on the back of a 2.24 ERA while striking out about a batter per inning. He faces the Reds which is a recipe for grabbing his 15th win of the year.
Lance Lynn (SP, STL) - $9,600
Lynn faces off with the Tulo-less Rockies tomorrow in St. Louis. In my opinion Lynn is criminally underrated. He has a sub-3 ERA for the second straight year and is striking out a career high 9.6 batters per 9 innings.
DFS Infielders To Consider for FanDuel
Freddie Freeman (1B, ATL) - $3,400
I always say, players coming off the DL are undervalued on FanDuel. Freeman gets right-handed rookie Aaron Nola. Freeman owns a career .879 OPS against righties and gets to play this game in the hitter-friendly Citizens Bank Park.
Ben Zobrist (2B, KC) - $3,100
Traded to a better offensive team in a better home-park, what's not to like about this move for Zobrist. Combine that with the fact that he's hitting .364 in his career against opposing pitcher Mark Buehrle, and you have a cocktail for some Saturday success.
Manny Machado (3B, BAL) - $3,700
I have the feeling that after selling off David Price, Yoenis Cespedes, and Joakim Soria this week that the Tigers won't be completely up for their weekend series with Baltimore. This is more of a gut call, but I expect Machado to reap the rewards.
DFS Outfielders To Consider for FanDuel
Carlos Gomez (OF, HOU) - $3,700
I think Gomez is going to fit in great with his new team in Houston. I anticipate he'll get off to a hot start with his new squad.
Andrew McCutchen (OF, PIT) - $4,600
No real explanation needed here. Great hitter in a hitter's ballpark facing a bad pitcher.
FanDuel Sleeper Value of the Day
Chris Young (OF, NYY) - $3,400
With lefty John Danks on the mound for Chicago, I'd expect Young to be in the Yankees lineup (but make sure to check). He has an astounding 1.137 OPS against lefties this season in 97 at-bats.
My DFS Lineup on FanDuel
Remember to check your lineups throughout the day. You never want to get a goose egg for a guy that didn’t play.
