Below are my FanDuel lineup picks for Saturday, July 11th. My goal with these DFS picks, as always, is to try to choose players who will outperform their expectations. These players can be high-cost players, or they can be sleepers, but we are always looking for players that have a chance to return the greatest value on FanDuel. Additionally, since the weekends generally have many afternoon and night games, I’ll make an effort to distribute my picks to cover all the timeslots going forward so that if you are playing an afternoon/night only league this article will still be useful.
Daily fantasy baseball leagues (DFS) are becoming the thing to do, and here at RotoBaller we are excited to help our users build their bankrolls. I’ll be covering FanDuel lineup picks, sleepers and general advice every Saturday and Sunday. I’ll also be putting my money where my mouth is by entering my final lineup (at the bottom of the article) into one of FanDuel’s many daily fantasy contests, so that RotoBaller users can compete against me.
Editor’s Note: If you play on FanDuel, you should also check out RotoBaller’s DFS Partner DraftKings – they’re hosting a one-day Fantasy Baseball league tonight. Last Saturday’s Review
Entry: $1
Winnings: $2.50
Saturdays For the Season: +$7.18
Pick Highlights: Greinke didn't strikeout as many as I expected, but the guy just doesn't give up runs anymore. Same story last Saturday when he went 7 innings and racked up 15 points. Joe Mauer hit a rare homer and carried the offense with his 11.75 points. Kelly Johnson was the perfect sleeper of the week at $2,200, racking up 6.75 points.
Relationship Status: “We can build on this”
DFS Starting Pitchers To Consider for FanDuel
Chris Sale (SP, CWS) - $11,600
Sale didn't strike out 10 batters in his last start for the first time in almost two months, but I expect him to get back to those 10-K ways today. He's facing the crosstown rivals, the Cubs, with a young lineup that is second in the Majors in strikeouts.
Hisashi Iwakuma (SP, SEA) - $7,500
Iwakuma was not good earlier this week in his first start back from the DL, but I'm going with history here. He faces the Angels in Safeco field tomorrow. Angels batters have triple slashed .224/.238/.349 in almost 150 career at-bats against him. He's also traditionally better at home with a 3.05 ERA vs. 3.47 on the road. It's a bit of a risk, as he'll probably be on about a 90 pitch pitch-count. Regardless, I like the matchup here.
DFS Infielders To Consider for FanDuel
Adrian Gonzalez (1B, LAD) - $3,600
After Gonzalez' red-hot start this season which catapulted him to near $5,000 prices, he has slumped a bit as the weather has heated up. Good news is that his power swing has come back as of late, hitting four homers in his past seven games going into Friday night's matchup. At this price I'm happy to put him in all of my lineups.
Joe Panik (2B, SF) - $3,000
Can't pass up an All-Star at this price. I expect Panik to get plenty of at-bats tomorrow against a weak Philadelphia pitching staff.
Evan Longoria (3B, TB) - $2,900
Longoria is quietly putting up a solid season, and at this price with multi-HR potential how can you pass him up.
DFS Outfielders To Consider for FanDuel
Brett Gardner (OF, NYY) - $4,300
He's an All-Star, the hottest player on the surging Yankees, and he can do it all. Why not give yourself a shot at a HR and a steal.
Joc Pederson (OF, LAD) - $3,300
I know he strikes out a bit...ok, a ton. He leads the league in K's. Regardless, here is another guy that can launch a HR at any given moment. If only you got points for length of homers. Pederson currently averages the highest exit velocity on HR balls in all of the Majors.
FanDuel Sleeper Value of the Day
Alcides Escobar (SS, KC) - $2,500
Escobar is starting in the All-Star game next week after hitting .289 in the best half of his career. He owns opposing pitcher Mark Buehrle to the tune of a .400 average.
My DFS Lineup on FanDuel
Today I’ll be playing in $15K MLB Sac Fly (late) game today. Remember to check your lineups throughout the day. You never want to get a goose egg for a guy that didn’t play.
