Below are my FanDuel lineup picks for Saturday, September 19th. My goal with these DFS picks, as always, is to try to choose players who will outperform their expectations.
These players can be high-cost players, or they can be sleepers, but we are always looking for players that have a chance to return the greatest value on FanDuel. Additionally, since the weekends generally have many afternoon and night games, I’ll make an effort to distribute my picks to cover all the time slots going forward so that if you are playing an afternoon/night only league this article will still be useful.
Daily fantasy baseball leagues (DFS) are becoming the thing to do, and here at RotoBaller we are excited to help our users build their bankrolls. I’ll be covering FanDuel lineup picks, sleepers and general advice every Saturday and Sunday. I’ll also be putting my money where my mouth is by entering my final lineup (at the bottom of the article) into one of FanDuel’s many daily fantasy contests, so that RotoBaller users can compete against me.

DFS Starting Pitchers To Consider for FanDuel
Sonny Gray (SP, OAK) - $10,200
Gray gets the struggling and no-longer-in-first-place Houston Astros who have dropped 5 in a row and 9 of their past 11 games. The long season may finally be catching up with the free-swinging boys from Houston and Sonny Gray is certainly not going to make breaking out of this losing streak very easy.
Garret Richards (SP, LAA) - $8,400
The same reasoning used on Gray can be used for Richards, only for almost $2,000 cheaper. Minnesota has finally stopped clustering hits at unheard of rates which has resulted in more losses of late. Richards, like most pitchers, fairs better at home, but the spacious confines of Target Field should help ease some of his home/away split discrepancies.
DFS Infielders To Consider for FanDuel
Anthony Rizzo (1B, CHC) - $4,700
Is anyone going to talk about Rizzo as the legit MVP candidate that he is? I don't think he'll win it, but he at least has a case. The Cubs talk is generally centered around the youth movement, but let's remember that Rizzo is only 26 and has 30 homers and 92 RBI to his name this year. And as amazing as he's been, here is just more proof from FanGraphs that he's actually improving.
Evan Longoria (3B, TB) - $3,100
Longoria faces Wei-Yin Chen on Saturday and all of the numbers point to a big day. He has a great history against Chen, sporting a .949 OPS in 34 career at-bats. Additionally, he's hitting .341/.403/.550 against lefties this season.
DFS Outfielders To Consider for FanDuel
Matt Holiday (OF, STL) - $3,000
The history against Travis Wood here is really nice, especially at this price. In 43 career at-bats, Holiday has triple-slashed .372/.413/.767 with 4 home runs.
Nelson Cruz (OF, SEA) - $4,000
I talk a lot about getting guys that are capable of hitting two homers in a game. Cruz is the kind of guy that can hit 3 on any given day. I don't care about the "tough" matchup with Cole Hamels. Cruz crushes lefties and putting him back in a hitter's friendly park like the one he'll be playing in this weekend in Texas is almost unfair at this price.
